Good morning, readers! We hope you are having a great week and are getting used to the time change. If you have little ones like I do, I trust that you have extended your morning coffee to an all-day affair. (Or perhaps you’ve opted to stay in bed so as not to have to hear about the election… Happy Election Day, by the way!)
I had the bright idea of trying to keep my little guy up an hour later so maybe he would sleep until “normal” time. Total backfire. If anyone out there has any sage, time-change parenting advice, I’m all ears. I assume that once he’s a teenager and wants to sleep all day regardless this will all even itself out.
Needless to say, I’m rethinking the whole puppy thing. It has only been two days of less sleep than usual and I’m already asking myself how I did this with a baby!
My husband is sensible and, knowing what’s to come, goes to bed an hour earlier. He’s also a relentlessly cheerful morning person. And he doesn’t have to watch This is Us.
I have to stay up and watch it because, if I don’t, inevitably someone at preschool or Bike and Barre will accidentally let some very crucial piece of information slip and then I’ll know what’s going to happen, and that’s the worst, really. So, as you can see, there is no feasible way for me to go to bed earlier.
If you are feeling less-than-your perkiest this beautiful day, don’t worry. Studio McGee is here to save the day! We’ve shared house tours from their work here and here. And, of course, we’ll have a beyond stunning house tour to give you energy tomorrow. (You can go ahead and watch the Younger saved on your DVR too! Oh, or, right, the election coverage.)
Because, with a palette this fresh and combinations this classic, you can’t help but feel energized just looking at these beautiful rooms. This hall is so bright and beautiful and the family photos are so sweet…
And then you see that tiny dress and the little doll and rocker and suddenly realize that all the sleep deprivation in the world is totally worth it…
Okay, okay. Puppy is back on. Even if it means sacrificing a little time that would otherwise be spent soaking somewhere similar to the above.
There is something timeless yet updated in Studio McGee’s style that always makes us want to take a second look.
And a touch of the unexpected–like a fun pattern on the floor and the black wall–takes their designs completely over the top! We’re smitten! Do you love their work as much as we do?

Thanks so much to everyone who has been so supportive of my Peachtree Bluff series. If you haven’t read Slightly South of Simple or The Secret to Southern Charm, pick up your copies before The Southern Side of Paradise (NOW AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER!) releases May 7, 2019!
Here’s What’s Next from the Murphy Women:
From internationally bestselling author and “rising star of Southern fiction” (Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling author) Kristy Woodson Harvey comes the third novel in her Peachtree Bluff series, in which a secret threatens the tight-knit bond between a trio of sisters and their mother.
With the man of her dreams back in her life and all three of her daughters happy, Ansley Murphy should be content. But she can’t help but feel like it’s all a little too good to be true.
Meanwhile, youngest daughter and actress Emerson, who is recently engaged and has just landed the role of a lifetime, seemingly has the world by the tail. Only, something she can’t quite put her finger on is worrying her—and it has nothing to do with her recent health scare.
When two new women arrive in Peachtree Bluff—one who has the potential to wreck Ansley’s happiness and one who could tear Emerson’s world apart—everything is put in perspective. And after secrets that were never meant to be told come to light, the powerful bond between the Murphy sisters and their mother comes crumbling down, testing their devotion to each other and forcing them to evaluate the meaning of family.
With Kristy Woodson Harvey’s signature charm, wit, and heart, The Southern Side of Paradise is another masterful Peachtree Bluff novel that proves she is a “Southern writer with staying power” (Booklist).

HAPPY FRIDAY, FRIENDS!
I wish I had some shattering news regarding litte time change, but I’m in the same sleep-deprived boat as you. Mine go to bed easy at 730pm but are now wide awake at 5am! Ugh. Thank gawd for coffee.
Your description of Studio McGee’s style is right on point. Fresh, unexpected yet so classic. Love it all, and I’m dying over their latest Windsong Project. WE are building and I am trying to find a house pkan similiar…I love it that much.
Anyhoo, best of luck today on Election Day. Us Canadians are going to be watching closely. And believe me, we are as scared as many of you are

I adore their work! So clean and fresh…..and I love This Is Us!
Love your blog-read it every morning with a cup of coffee. Love “This is Us”…maybe one week I’ll watch it and NOT cry. And about getting up early every morning…believe it or not in a snap you’ll be 64 (take it from one who knows)
Good Morning Girls
It might take a week, but you’ll get Will down on this time change. Have a good day, remember the Election will be over and things will be normal tomorrow!

Happy morning, ladies! No sage advice for the time change and Will, I’m afraid to admit. Only that one day, you will be beside yourself trying to get him OUT of bed…not soon, but one day. Puppies? Totally worth it. I was the last hold out for a puppy, and now, I can’t imagine my day without my Bentley. ( who is four but still acts like a puppy)
Beautiful share of Studio McGee!
As a mother of adult sons, I had to laugh. There will come a day where you’re certain he’s a vampire because he will want to stay up past when you are ready for bed and he’ll have that ability to sleep until noon (if you let him). 🙂
The happiness a puppy will bring you will out weigh the hassle of those first training months, honest.
You’re right, Studio McGee is just the ticket to brighten the day.

Love Urban Cottage. Good luck with getting everyone settled! oxo lisa
After this past springs’ dst ruined my LIFE. I spent the last month pushing bedtime back so my 17mo would be ready for the time change. So far, so good! Right to bed at 7 every night! I plan to do earlier bedtime next spring to help him adjust again. But I’ll also have a newborn at that time. So wish me luck!
These rooms are speaking my language! The dark cabinets in the kitchen look so sophisticated and love their use of artwork! Chic!

Beautiful post as usual.
