Good morning, chic readers! If you’re in the mood for a beach vacation, come along with us today! If you’ve followed Design Chic for any length of time you know that we are obsessed with Marshall Watson‘s peerless work. (And really just Marshall, in general, truth be told.)

Watson’s own East Hampton escape is the stuff that dream home fantasies are made of. I’ve seen it in pictures, and I am beside myself that I get to go to Watson and his husband Paul Sparks’s weekend retreat in real life!

I will be appearing at the East Hampton Author’s Night on August 10, and Watson and Sparks are incredibly graciously hosting my Author Dinner afterward.

I can’t decide what I’m most excited about, but I think it’s the garden. If you want a little sneak peek, check out this gorgeous article in Galerie Magazine. See what I mean? As someone with a decidedly non-green thumb, I can’t even imagine…

What we marvel most over when it comes to Watson’s work is how diverse it is. He truly creates magic in every space he designs, but in a way that is completely suited to the homeowners’ tastes.

This stunning East Hampton home has a personality very different from Watson’s own, while still maintaining his signature sense of balance, light and emphasis on the details.

Architectural details on the ceiling and a fun backsplash, for instance, create instant personality in this kitchen, while classic cabinetry and white marble lend staying power to the look.

Touches of coastal influence punctuate the design scheme, while an overarching sense of serenity and calm pervades, as if wordlessly reminding every person who enters that he or she is on vacation.

Simply touring this chic retreat today has felt like, well, a day at the beach! A quick nap in this perfect bedroom wouldn’t hurt either…

If you haven’t picked up Watson’s book, The Art of Elegance, don’t wait another minute. Watson’s breadth of talent is so vast that it’s like having several books in one. It’s a classic in its own time.

Thanks so much for stopping by Design Chic today. We always love seeing you here!
