Good morning, chic readers! We get so excited when we are SO excited about a post. (It still happens most weeks, which, eight years in, is kind of a big deal.) Today is definitely one of those days.
We did a post about She Sheds a few weeks ago, and loved all of your emails and comments about them. One of our favorite emails was from Hillbrook Collections, showing us their fabulous, outstanding version of a backyard getaway.
What we loved right away about Hillbrook’s designs is all the uses. The office, the garden shed, the man cave, the she shed, the storage shack… (Although, none of these is a shack in the least!) These multi-purpose outdoor additions to your garden or yard were too gorgeous not to tell you about.
The thing about sheds is that they usually come in two different varieties: custom-built, which either takes forever or ends up costing way more or prefab from a big box hardware store that isn’t–How do we put this delicately?–concerned with aesthetics.
These darling Hillbrook designs are built and delivered to your site, which is absolutely the best of both worlds. No waiting for custom building but so much style!
The Cary is so adorable and would be the perfect little writing retreat. I can imagine a sweet desk situated to look out that window. The thing about a room of one’s own is that it doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be your own. Especially for artistic pursuits, we think tiny spaces are the best!
My son is dying for a building shed of his own. I’m dying for my yard to look prettier. This looks like a good compromise and is aptly named after him! The best of all possible worlds!
It would be hard for this point to be any more gorgeous, but the Will is the icing on the cake!
The Candy is as sweet as its name. This would be the most epic playhouse ever.
Nestled into a gorgeous yard and painted a custom color, this shed is nothing short of idyllic.
Best of all, each Hillbrook shed is handcrafted of top quality materials, so no buyer’s remorse! We want them ALL! Which Hillbrook Shed would you choose for your yard? And what would you use it for?
“I have read Kristy’s other two books, Dear Carolina and Lies And Other Acts Of Love, and while I completely enjoyed both, [Slightly South of Simple] really hit home. I don’t know if it was the fact that it’s set at the beach ~ where I live ~ or that there were references to NY ~ where I also live ~ that it’s the story about three sisters and their widowed mom ~ hello, that’s my family ~ or the fact that I myself am the mom to girls. Or maybe it was those references to 9/11. I swear, the conversation in the book is the exact one I had with my own husband on that terrifying morning. So much of what Kristy had written felt familiar. I just couldn’t put it down. Of course, even if you don’t have the same connections that I have, you’ll still love this one. The characters are likable, the Southern setting is dreamy, there are tears, laughter, surprises, secrets and best of all, romance. The perfect summer read.” Kim, Exquisitely Unremarkable

Thanks so much to everyone who has taken the time to read my latest novel Slightly South of Simple! I am so grateful to each and every one of you. If you have read, would you consider writing a brief review on Amazon? You don’t have to have purchased there to review, and reviews help authors so very much! Thanks for all your support!
We always talk about finding the perfect storage space for those necessary things that seem to accumulate indoors, but, sometimes, it’s finding a spot for the outdoor things that is even more difficult!
Tricycles, baseball bats, that trusty lawnmower, gardening gloves, shovels…
All those things that hold up the walls of the garage or clutter the yard need their place too.
Full disclosure: Even if we didn’t have one, single thing that needed to be put away outdoors, we’d still be pining for these garden sheds!
They are so undeniably charming that we can see the writing on the wall…
That old blower would still be hogging its corner of the garage so that we could set up a little table and chairs,
maybe a desk, and use that adorable potting shed for a tiny getaway. Our friends at TruGreen have given us so much inspiration for creating that special SheShed. From choosing your colors to picking a theme, their advice is spot on.
Who could possibly resist having their morning coffee here? It seems like a great way to gather your thoughts for the day.
Big, small, manicured or rustic, we think all of these garden sheds are something very, very special.
We hope to transform ours in Beaufort into something just as lovely one day soon. Happy Monday, friends!
If you’re like us, you believe that good taste never means just one thing. It can apply to a range of styles, a mix of materials and all sorts of different feels. Hernandez Greene Interior Design creates a variety of worlds for its clients, each one encapsulating a style–and a version of good taste–that reflects the family that lives within. We hope you enjoy these stunning rooms as much as we did!
Thank you so much for making Design Chic a part of your day! We always love it when you stop by!
“[I]f I recommend one book to you this year (so far), let it be Slightly South of Simple for your first beach read. The darling and charming Kristy Woodson Harvey’s latest novel is the definition of a summer novel. I loved it almost as I love her.”–Jessica, Simply Bedazzled
No matter how you celebrate, a beautiful Easter table is all-important. Our sweet friend Lidy of French Garden House sure knows how to make an Easter table come to life!
So, to be honest, we’re having Easter brunch at the club this year. I know. But, knowing that I’ll be leaving on Monday it didn’t seem like the best time to cook an elaborate meal and have all the family. Plus, this way, everyone gets to eat exactly what they want.
But that doesn’t mean we don’t have fun Easter decorations out. It is, after all, one of the most fun holidays. We’ve long been fans of this precious Easter china from Pottery Barn. Oh to have more storage space!
When you set your Easter table, do you like it to be fun, bright and floral?
Or do you keep things a little simpler? Either way, we’d love to see your Easter table!
Whether you celebrate or not, we hope you have a beautiful, warm Spring weekend!
Thanks to our beyond awesome friend Rene from Cottage and Vine for featuring a fabulous interview about Slightly South of Simple, writing, and my favorite hostess tips. She covered it all! Who did I tell Rene was my greatest inspiration? Here’s a hint:
Just a little more than a week left to preorder Slightly South of Simple from your favorite bookstore! Thank you, dear friends for all of your amazing support. It means the world to me!
