ORC-250x160First of all, thank you all so much for making the launch of Shop Design Chic so successful! We were so overwhelmed with the response and so appreciative!

Now… On to the One Room Challenge the brainchild of the fabulous Linda from Calling it Home.  And as a reminder, here is our progress:  Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4,  and Week 5.

 Hey? Remember this?

The linoleum and laminate and 1950s appliances?

Well, they’re gone! (Note: Our soffit is not finished… We’re going to have to do an ORC addendum next week!)

The new, white, sparkly marble is in and replaced, and we think it made the biggest difference!

We just love the new windows…

And ghost bar stools…

And, well, everything really.

The new sinks are in and ready to go, one split and one for fish cleaning. (Ew. But kind of yummy when it’s all said and done!)

And we’re kind of obsessed with the faucets.

Don’t those blue straws add a fun little punch?

Another view of that all-important sink.

We LOVE this incredible bowl.

And the blinds from Wayfair made SUCH a difference! (Even though, yeah, we measured them wrong the first time and had to do them again… Sigh.)

 Another view.

We don’t have gas down at the beach, but we think this electric Viking range will do nicely. And will keep the kitchen much cooler in the summer. It was not popular with the guys who had to move it. In fact, it actually sat in the lawn overnight, but we weren’t worried one bit because we knew no one could possibly walk off with it! (Just when you thought you’ve cleaned up… Wonder what variety of toy that is snuck in that corner?)

We love this fridge! And the fact that it came in as a fridge. (Unlike the tiny-dryer-not-dishwasher fiasco.)

We think the turtle shells are super cute and make for a nice little segue between the kitchen and dining room.

And the glass pantry door makes everything feel nice and open.

Don’t you just love these prints from one of our favorite bloggers,Jennifer of ThePink Pagoda? We know we do!  Jennifer is redoing her entrance hall in the ORC and you must see her transformation – it’s gorgeous!

Black and white makes such a statement shining through!

Dishwasher! Victory! This is not a dryer. And it is the quietest thing of all time. Seriously. I almost called the electrician because I thought it wasn’t on.

We love these jars. We have a bunch of them in the size below too if anyone needs any…

This clam shell is one of my favorite things in the entire house!

And this shiny Mariposa String of Pearls pitcher is perfect for entertaining. And pretty when you aren’t!

It’s the beach. What do you need besides Tervis Tumblers and wine glasses? (Do you think it’s a sign that we have 36 Tervis Tumblers and 150 wine glasses?)

Simple white china that (we hope!) we’ll love for years to come.

I’m obsessed with loose leaf teas… and organic spices. These teas are from Flying Bird Botanicals on Etsy. They’re insanely amazing.

Remember the attached laundry room?

 A little progress…

And, voila! Blogging central! These incredible prints from Minted totally made this space pop.

It is not, as you can see, full of fishing rods. I hate to say we won, but… Well, what else is there to say, really?

We love these black and whites on the wall!

 Another view!

 Everyone needs a pretty hat!

And what author doesn’t have an incredible bookcase? We need to get some snazzy umbrellas, but, no matter what it holds, this umbrella stand from Jayes Studio rounds out a space with a touch of color and whimsy.

And if you’re looking for a beach read, look no further than Dear Carolina!

Thanks so much to all of our sponsors, our fellow ORC participants and the fabulous Linda from Calling it Home for putting this challenge together. We’re already getting excited for next year! Most of all, we’re so grateful that we had this challenge to motivate us to complete this space! We’ll post photos of that soffit when it’s finished. But, all in all, we’d say this was a pretty fantastic transformation!
