When we think of Madison, Georgia, this home is what comes to mind. Or something like it. White, stately, columned, and, obviously, with a porch big enough for sitting all summer long. From the perfectly orchestrated interiors to the sprawling landscape, this is a home that makes you pause, take a breath, and say, “Wow!” But don’t take our word for it. Have a look around, take a seat and stay awhile. After all, this is the South y’all.
Speaking of Georgia, I’ll be there a few days on my Dear Carolina tour! If I’m coming to your town, I’d love it if you’d stop by and say hi! Meeting all of you is the best part about going new places. And I’m adding new dates every day! Thanks for all of your love and support and well wishes along the way. One week until launch!

Oh that white barn, that simple pool…..we went on a home tour in Minneapolis and St. Paul last weekend and we saw the most glorious mansions, single family cottages and renovated homes. GLORY! And…I hear your book is out! Congratulations! Anita

Hi ladies, What a treat! Thank you!! The interior is a little darker than I anticipated, especially the kitchen, but all of it, gorgeous! I love that little building out back, would be a perfect art studio!

This home is not only welcoming, a skill the south sets the standard for, but it’s got a good deal of sophistication mixed with warmth and charm. I love it!
I really must visit the state of Georgia sometime.

Oh..Oh what a charming, stately, classic gorgeous home. Every element perfectly executed
The horses on the dining room table are a great touch.

I would love to stay awhile in this gorgeous home. Every detail is perfect. That hammock – I could lose a whole day in there I think.
Happy Wednesday, ladies! XOXO
Absolutely inlove with this home, inside and out!!!!!!Just fabulous! Good luck with the tour! It’ll be a blast for you Kristy!
Quintessentially southern…love those spindle beds!
This house is fabulous! I absolutely love every room! The colors, the art and the furniture.
So sophisticated, charming, and utterly Southern: I love it. Those dark and moody interiors are so well done! FYI: not sure if this is true for everyone, but your site is loading very, very slowly for me. Maybe your images are unusually large? It does load, but take a while…
As a person who was raised in the Arts, whose mother was one of our first Interior Designers and having been deply involved in the design world for most of my life as a “Classical Conserative” in all things architectural having gone through the University Of Michigan’s School of Architecture and good friends with Frank Lloyd Wright i honestly feel the owner of this house has not one drop of feeling for it or the roots of it either nor do they understand the historical period of the home itself. All that beautiful woodwork painted over with all those moody too dark colors with not an ounce of white to balance those deep tones in those small spaces …..personally i grieve for that beautiful home how she must suffer as the wrong side won the war. Bad enough she had to go through it and we can thank the good General who did understand the beauty of Madison and therefore did not burn it but made it his headquarters to save it only to end up many years later with people who have no appreciation of the history of these remarkable Southern gems and buy them and then lacking understanding or empathy for them they more then often either decorate them with like minded designers or they hire designers who should never be alllowed in a classical home let alone paid to ruin it as was done here. Sorry to sound so harsh about this but more and more i see our history being destroyed along with our country and the American way of life and at my advanced age feel an obligation to speak out for all it is worth. There are way too many housewives of influential men and just housewives who feel they “have good taste” not having a clue about architecture or our history who either get a tax exempt license and “call themselves designers” out there and graduating way too many designers who unfortunately have no taste at all but do have that degree and unfortunately they are both out there so please do not do what the owner of this house did and hire one of those two. Many years ago i was one of the designers who got ASID started and later NSID in Michigan so i am knowledgeable of what i am saying and beautiful gems like this home suffer due to a lack of either ignorance on the part of the owner or they are just “gifted” with questionable taste…they certainly have no feeling for this home and as u can see i both grieve and feel deeply for the pain she must be in now with an owner who clearly has no understanding of what she is all about. No i am not an internet troll i am just finally at the end of my life speaking out and i have remained silent for far too long. This home is a prime example of what i am saying……Again i apologise here if my words offfend anyone but i have just seen too many homes like this and am now speaking my heart and my education……
I know this article is over 6 months old but I just found this home tour while on pintrest. The home is beautifully decorated and I love all the artwork and accessories. That being said, I agree with above poster that’s it’s sad the original woodwork was painted over.
My husband and I bought an 1896 Victorian home and hired a decorator. Her first comment was painted over all the rich, dark , original woodwork and pocket doors. We have the most gorgeous wood trimmed molding and window casings. She said all that too must be painted over. We terminated her that day. We bought the home for the unique and original elements and would never dream of removing nor painting over them . Ever.
We are a young couple and know the rarity of finding homes from this era….if we wanted painted woodwork and new aluminum painted windows and crown moulding we would have a bought a new home. Just my 2 cents…
A book tour!!! So exciting! I hope to see you when you come to Georgia!! Enjoy it!! Publishing a book is quite an accomplishment.
Everything about the house is amazing! Gorgeous!!!
I love Jimmy’s home in Madison….I have been watching it come together on FB and Instagram….His style is always so moody! What a great job he did!
