Good morning, friends! We hope today is magical for you, and we know it will be for us… Because we’re in Disney World! At the Magic Kingdom, to be exact. And we’re pretty convinced that what they say is true: for a kid, this is the happiest place on earth.

In the meantime, back home, we’re thinking about rugs. Those all-important staples that put a finishing touch on a space and warm up a bare hardwood floor in a jif.

We’re all pretty good at thinking about the aesthetics of the thing. (We’re in a natural fiber mood, as you might can tell!) How it will look in our room… What style we want…

But, sometimes, and especially with rugs, we have to think about the logistics of the thing as well.

Because rugs, like so many of the fabrics, accessories and other chic touches that we add to our homes, are probably temporary. If we choose wisely, we hope they’ll be beautiful for years to come, but, even still, it’s always important to think about long-term and protecting your home.

And one of the worst feelings in the world is realizing that, when you pull up your rug of ten years to spruce or decide you want to go back to plain wood floors, the surface underneath is completely ruined.

Just like spending a little more on a quality fabric that will stand the test of time, making sure your floor has the right foundation is so important for making both the rug and the floor below it last.

With that business taken care of, it’s easier to feel good about the fun part: choosing a beautiful rug to complement your overall design scheme!

Natural fibers like wool and seagrass are certainly our favorites for durability, stain resistance and overall aesthetic appeal.

And, in a neutral shade, with the right foundation, of course, you absolutely can’t go wrong! Whatever the rest of the week holds for you, we hope it’s terrific!
Enjoy the MAGIC!

I love natural fiber rugs. I have a seagrass one from Ikea that was dirt cheap but looks great in my living room.
Have a great time at Disney!
Loving that Miles Redd all Bamboo BR.. Would love to know where he found that bed but my guess is that it appears to be an old “Vintage Dixie” recycled with upholstered headboard. Ah.. makes me think i am in the Bahama Land or could be at Disney Land in Sunny Flordia where they also use lot’sa Bamboo furnishings…..Hope Wills will enjoy his special weekend at DW.. My grandchildren have been in every DW all over the world mainly because my youngest son, was an Investment Banker and the banks sent them to several countries where they have DW’s especially in France and Japan where the two of them were born. You might be surprised at just how many countries have DW in them.. They are popular word wide….You are going to need some rest mamma upon your return home to NC,,lol Lot a walkin at DW…..but lot’sa fun also, especially at Will’s age….
