Good morning, friends! We hope you had a fantastic Martin Luther King Day. We always pack those little bonus days off from school with lots of activities and fun. I think I look forward to them as much as my son does. So we were both really bummed out that he had a sore throat. (Well, to be fair, it was much worse for him than it was for me since he was the one that had to be sick!)
He met his reading goal of 1,000 pages this month–I know, 1,000. First grade is not what it used to be!–so I was going to take him to Lowe’s and Dank Burrito, which was what he had requested if he met said goal.
Yes, Lowe’s is my first grader’s favorite store. He likes to build anything and everything. Unfortunately, I had to do the responsible mom thing and say no to burritos and boards. (And torx screws. He taught me what those were.)
But, today is a new day, and we’re saying yes, yes, yes to this lighting! Demure in the dining room? Never!
From the flowers in the sink to the perfect pendant light, this kitchen is positively dreamy.
And it’s no surprise, really.
Because dreamy, as you can see, is what Bria Hammel Interior Design does.
In these designs, as in life, it really is the little things. The instant chicness (and practicality!) of a library ladder in the kitchen,
A statement backsplash that says, More over, subway tile,
And a fume hood that the kitchen wears around like a jaw-dropping piece of jewelry.
Hammel does a twist on tradition so, so well,
And makes even the most industrial of spaces an experience.
Speaking of experiences… Have you ever? A reading nook fit for a princess! We think we’d like to curl up in one of these! But not on a sick day. Maybe on a burrito day. After a trip to Lowe’s. Whatever your favorites are, we hope you get to do them all today!
Thanks so much for stopping by Design Chic. We love seeing you!

Good Morning Girls,
I’m going to have to ask MC what a torx screw is. I’m amazed a first grader’s favorite store is Lowes. MC calls it his Toys R Us. Congratulations to him for 1,000 pages. Bravo!
Bria Hammel’s designs are fantastic. Don’t know what my favorite element is. Maybe the library ladder. Her lighting fixtures are awesome.
Have a great week

I love the library ladder too!! It was hilarious. We went to a local hardware store when Will wasn’t quite three and the man walked over sort of chuckling and said, “May I help you, sir?” And Will looked right up and him and was like, “Where are the torx screws?” It was the funniest thing ever!
This is so sweet! These are some of our favorite projects and we’re happy to see you love them just as much as we do. Thank you so much for featuring us Beth and Kristy! 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing your work, Bria! It’s so beautiful!
