Things We Love: Natural Ceilings

Sims Hildtich
One of our favorite things that designer Sarah Richardson says is that ceilings can be anything, as long as they aren’t white!

That being said, it isn’t advice we take all that often… We have a lot of white ceilings!

We used to think that that perfect, southern porch “haint blue” was the ultimate in ceiling colors.

But now we’ve changed our minds!

After seeing these gorgeous pictures, we want every ceiling in our lives — especially the ones at the Beaufort house — to be fabulously natural!

Like honey colored hardwoods, natural ceilings seem to look great with every color scheme. Orange paired with blue is one of our favorite combinations. A great throw or fun pillow is a great place to start. (P.S. Horchow is having 25-30% off of EVERYTHING. Good time to start updating!)

What’s better than natural ceilings. Natural ceilings with beams!

Bonus points if the beams actually still look like the logs they came from…

Natural wood combined with neutral tones looks so fresh and soothing. We love these garden seats! They are a perfect way to add interest under a table — and add instant seating!
Great lighting makes a fantastic ceiling even better! A little shine makes every room feel special.
Those great, old beach houses that have been there forever are some of our favorites. While the raw wood on all six walls (floor and ceiling included, of course!) lends that great, old school feel, it can be a little dark. When grabbing the brush, skip the ceiling to maintain that authentic feel while lightening up a bit.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
We’re in NYC today to celebrate the release of Howard Slatkin’s Fifth Avenue Style. Anyone else going to the party tonight? We love meeting blog friends!!
Happy Thursday, everyone!

InGood Taste:EmilySummersDesign

One glance at the work of Emily Summers Design, and it’s no surprise that the firm was just added to the AD 100. (If it’s good enough for Architectural Digest, it’s good enough for us!) Traditional design with modern touches that is always clean and uncluttered is a hallmark of this firm’s stunning work, and, of course, why we think they’re homes are in good taste.

Wow! What a view! We hope you’re enjoying the view today as well. Thanks for being with us!

House Tour: Cabin Fever

School’s out for summer, and we’ve got cabin fever! There’s no better time for a getaway to somewhere completely relaxing. We think this would do nicely… The rustic feel is so charming and makes us long for the simple life! Just looking at the pictures of this incredible natural setting complete with its blend-with-nature furnishings makes us feel like we’ve been on vacation. What do you think? Is this your kind of getaway?

We hope your day is full of fresh air and sunshine. How are you planning to unwind this summer?
Thanks for stopping by!
