Things We Love: A Banquette That Elevates the Room

We do it. We know you do too. You get to a restaurant and there are a couple chairs on one side and a big, cushy, cozy booth on the other.

If you’re with older friends or relatives, bosses etc. you probably selflessly take the chair side, feeling like a martyr the entire time as you do.

If you’re with your kids or husband or maybe even your best friend, there’s probably a bit of fighting over the good side that ensues. At least, there is in our world.

So why relegate the squishy, comfy, cozy booth side to restaurants when you can have one in the privacy of your own home?

All of these gorgeous banquettes make us think that this is really the best idea.

And who cares if you sit four wide in the privacy of your own home? We’re not judging.

And a simple breakfast becomes an event.

We love the space-saving abilities of the banquette, and how it can be built straight across, in an L-shape, a U… You get the idea.

It even has the power to transform a charming breakfast area into a multipurpose space, perfect for reading, crafts or anything else your family needs!

Are you a fan of the banquette? Do you have one in your home?

House Tour: Stunning Stone House

Step inside this gorgeous New Canaan stone house, designed by Brooks & Falotico Associates, built by West Construction and interiors by Tori Legge of Stirling Mills Interior Design. It’s the pinnacle of style from the living room to the barre studio! We think we love each week’s house tour more than the week before, but this is definitely a favorite! But don’t take our word for it… Happy perusing!

Calming, luxurious, neutral and somehow modern and traditional at the same time, this stone cottage has it all. What’s your favorite part?

Thanks so much for stopping by Design Chic today. We always love seeing you here!

Things We Love: Bench Seating

Nancy Warren Design via Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles

When it comes to interior design, we could live a variety of ways. We’ll admit that we like formal details every now and then, crystal chandeliers and fussy fabrics. But we’re also huge fans of casual spaces that feel welcoming–and like it would be okay if you accidentally spilled your spaghetti.

When country music star Jessie Baylin saw this fabulous Nashville hideaway, she knew it was the one.

Then all she had to do was convince her other “one,” Nathan Followill, percussionist for Kings of Leon that this would be the perfect place to raise their precious daughter Violet.

Things We Love: Window Seats

APD Architects

Cozy nooks are always some of our favorite spots in a house. Even in the most spacious homes, it seems like everyone tends to gravitate toward those tiny spaces perfect for curling up getting comfy. Of all the small spaces in a home, a window seat might be our favorite. Sunshine, a cup of tea and a good book are all it takes to make this simple spot a go-to relaxation area for everyone in the house. Just add pillows!
