Happy Monday, readers! We hope you had an amazing weekend. We figured if anything could get your week started off on the right foot, it was a couple of cute puppies… And maybe a few of our favorite seagrass accents to lend a coastal chic feel to any space. Take a peek at these fabulous looks that add texture and style.
If there’s one thing we can’t get enough of, it’s stylish storage space. From stashing papers to stowing dirty laundry to concealing toys, baskets are double-duty players when it comes to hiding your junk and displaying your good taste. They’re easy on the earth, easy on your wallet and go with every decor in any room. From the bathroom to the kitchen, there’s a place for natural fiber baskets in every space. Check out these beautiful ways to incorporate baskets into your design.
Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We always love it when you stop by.

We have lots and lots of places to visit on our bucket lists, and, to be honest, there aren’t many stores that make the cut.
But all that just changed.
Because One Kings Lane’s Southhampton store is so fabulous that we sort of want to book a plane ticket right now!
One Kings Lane is, of course, a favorite spot of ours (and we know yours too!) for finding great deals on the best brands.
But there is something so gratifying about actually visiting a store in person and being able to see and touch the things you are going to buy before you buy them.
We think it takes one of our favorite interiors stores to a new level!
And the home-like atmosphere is such an added bonus.
It makes it so easy to be able to see how things will actually look after they get through our front door. (Fabulous, obviously, but how fabulous.)
From living rooms that delight…
To bedrooms that wow, all the beauty of One Kings Lane’s website comes to life exquisitely in real life in their Southhampton showroom. We can’t wait to visit! What about you?
Thanks so much for stopping by today, chic readers. We hope you have a wonderful week!
Speaking of great deals, I am so, so, so excited to share that Slightly South of Simple has been chosen as a Kindle monthly deal so, from today until April 1, you can read the first book in the Peachtree Bluff series for only $1.99–just in time for the The Secret to Southern Charm release on April 3.
Good morning, chic readers! We don’t know how the weather is where you are, but the past couple days here have been warm, sunny and absolutely gorgeous! We are having major Spring fever, savoring every second outside–and hoping that that groundhog was wrong and this warm weather is here to stay.
Whether you’re really having summer weather or just dreaming about us, take a little mini-vacation with us today to this beyond fabulous Carolina cottage designed by Janie Molster.
There is nothing like beach cottage, with all those historic touches, to take us back to beach trips of our childhoods.
The thing we love most about this home is how Molster mixes those sweet, nostalgic touches–like wood paneling–with bright updated style.
This island is the perfect spot for sandy feet and pimento cheese sandwiches!
Fresh watermelon and strawberries from a roadside stand become accessories in this kitchen.
While bright linens lend fun, fresh vacation-worthy appeal.
All I can say is that I wish I had seen this earlier… We had so many pairs of red Keds! What a fun way to incorporate them into the style.
Bold red and pretty marble update this bath, while hexagonal tile remains a throwback to a simpler time that’s still completely on trend.
Nothing says “beach retreat” like a fabulous kids’ room!
Beach towel goals!! We can’t decide which is cuter, the towels or the basket!
At the beach, driftwood really is the best accessory!
This utterly charming, classic exterior ties it all together–and, y’all, that view. This looks like the kind of place that has made a thousand memories and will make a thousand more. Thanks for touring with us today! We hope you love this Carolina cottage as much as we do!

“Kristy just has a way of capturing the beauty of the Georgia coast through her writing that make you feel like you are sitting right there amongst all the action while you read. The characters are all so well developed and you get attached very quickly.I would obviously recommend picking up Slightly South of Simple if you haven’t already, then pre-order your copy of The Secret to Southern Charm… this book will take you on an emotional roller coaster in the best possible way and leave you wanting more….and impatiently waiting for book three in the series :)” — Jena Pate, Our Southern Roots Blog
Good morning, chic readers! We hope you had a terrific 4th of July holiday and found a little time for resting and playing!
Holiday weekends are always so fun. What’s less fun is catching up on all the things we put off doing during them… like laundry.
Of course, the laundry doesn’t have to feel like such a chore, not when the laundry room can easily become one of the most stunning rooms in the house!
A few simple design elements like fabulous tile and paint can transform a laundry room into a fun and whimsical space that makes doing the laundry just a little more fun.
But, really, even more than the look, having a functional space takes so much of the stress out of this weekly chore. Plenty of space for folding, sorting, and, yes, ironing, makes the job so much easier!
http://rstyle.me/n/cp3x2hyki6 If you don’t want to devote a ton of space to the laundry room–and who does, really? Why not make it multi-purpose? We love how this room leaves plenty of (pretty) room for Fido.
And a cute craft table can double as folding space.
The mudroom is the perfect place for a washer and dryer. Dirty clothes don’t even have to get past the back door! And a pet shower built right in? Genius!
Baskets are a chic and easy staple for any room but there’s nowhere they’re more useful than the laundry room. Plus, they make great bathroom hampers.
A punch of color adds lots of life to this laundry area. And black and white tile are a forever favorite.
Whether you have lots of space or just a little, a few simple touches can help transform the laundry room from a bleak, dull space to somewhere that makes laundry time just a little more fun! Thanks so much for stopping by Design Chic today. We hope you have a great one!
“Kristy captures the voices of a mother and 3 grown daughters in an authentic way. I would describe Slightly South of Simple as a sunny day at the beach, with a few menacing, cloudy twists. I’m glad to hear this magnetic read is the first of a series on this family of strong, independent women, landing again in Peach Tree Bluff. I loved it!” —Heather, Style Mind Chic
