We’ll be honest: We don’t always love Pantone’s Color of the Year. But that would be kind of impossible, right? Everyone can’t like every color in just the same way we can’t embrace every single fashion or design trend.
We don’t know about y’all, but the announcement of 2020’s Pantone Color of the Year as Classic Blue was a big, huge thrill to us. And we feel pretty confident that it will lead to other great 2020 trends too.
We’re pretty sure that blue and white is about as timeless a combination as you can possibly get. And it simply tends to lend itself to other wonderful combinations.
My next novel, FEELS LIKE FALLING, releases April 28, 2020! I can’t wait to share this tale of Gray and Diana, their unlikely friendship, their summer loves and their chance at happily ever after, the sequel, with all of you. It has already been named a most anticipated read of 2020 by Parade, Working Mother and SheKnows! It’s never too early to preorder from your favorite local bookstore or online retailer!
More About Feels Like Falling…
From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand) and the bestselling author of the Peachtree Bluff series comes an odd couple tale of friendship that asks just how much our past choices define our happiness.
In her warmest, wittiest, and wisest novel yet, Kristy Woodson Harvey delivers a discerning portrait of modern womanhood through two vastly different lenses. Feels Like Falling is a beach bag essential for Harvey fans—and for a new generation of readers.
We are big fans of all sorts of decor. Bright and bold, rustic and farmhouse chic, whimsical and fun…
But, if we had to pick a favorite, nothing, to us, creates a soothing home–the kind that makes you exhale when you walk through the back door–quite like a palette of neutrals with a touch of blue.
An uncluttered feel in keeping with the color scheme makes for a relaxing TV room with plenty of comfortable seating for the whole family.
This chic light fixture proves that neutrals don’t need to be boring,
And, sometimes, the simplest vignettes are the chicest. (This chair has us swooning!)
Some houses feel absolutely pitch perfect, each room flowing to the next and the next effortlessly. From a sunlit kitchen,
To a serene bedroom suite, this lovely home is most certainly one of those.
This is the kind of home that we could move right in, sleep soundly and forget all the stresses of life. What about you?
Thanks so much for spending your holiday season with us, chic readers! We love it when you stop by!

Good morning, chic readers! We are CELEBRATING today because, today, my fifth novel and the final book in my Peachtree Bluff Trilogy, The Southern Side of Paradise, releases! After more than a year of writing, editing, promoting and, yes, picking the cover, it is so exciting to see the book come to life out in the world. As you might imagine, I am a very visual person, so covers mean a lot to me. I am so fortunate that my cover designer at Simon & Schuster is a genius–and came up with more than a dozen too-gorgeous-to-be-believed covers for me to choose from. I had the hardest time deciding which one fit the story best! Ultimately, it came down to something pretty simple: the yellow. The cover I chose has a yellow hat and a yellow title, and, I don’t know about you, but I am loving yellow lately. That yellow is combined with the perfect hot pink…
I think they nailed it, don’t you? If these aren’t the colors of paradise, then I don’t know what are. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your support of my books, The Peachtree Bluff Series and, of course, Design Chic! Mom and I love being here with you every day, and we can’t thank you enough for spending a few minutes of your day with us for NINE YEARS!
If you are looking for a Mother’s Day gift or your next beach read, I’d love it if you’d check out The Southern Side of Paradise! It is available from your local bookstore and wherever books are sold, including:

A Carolina blue door and a black lab? There’s really no better entrance if you ask us. (Although, in Henley-on-Thames, where this gorgeous door resides, we’re pretty sure it isn’t called Carolina blue.) Hám Interior Design firm, our big time design love this week, combines classic sensibilities with stunning architecture for spaces with purpose, with style and, most important of all, with that certain undefinable something that makes a house feel like a home. Leave your wellies by the door, brew a cup of hot tea and take a peek at these cozy, livable houses that are so unforgettably chic you’ll undoubtably find yourself daydreaming about a few little changes for you own home. Enjoy!
We hope you loved the good taste of Hám Interior Design as much as we do and that it brightened your day!
Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We always love seeing you here!

If you’re looking for something to read, make sure to grab a copy of THE SECRET TO SOUTHERN CHARM , one of Southern Living‘s best beach reads, to slip in your tote.
The city pied-a-terre is a right up there with the beach house or the mountain estate when it comes to dream houses.
And when it comes to pied-a-terres, this one, designed by one of our very favorite (and funniest!) designers, Andrew Howard, is the cream of the crop.
A Florida resident who has been tapped to bring out the best in some of the most exclusive homes in the Bahamas and beyond, this Atlanta project is just one of many stages on which Howard displays his range as a decorator.
He embraces the sleek and simple that the city demands,
While still inserting his signature playful style to make it family friendly and fun.
Layered patterns and the right blend of color give Howard’s homes a dash of whimsy that is always welcome–and sets his designs apart from the pack.
Unexpected details like bold ceilings and a perfectly imperfect gallery wall make a statement while still allowing the expansive views of the city to take center stage.
When it comes to good design, the details aren’t something, they are everything. The scallop accent on this console table and the perfect balance of symmetry and asymmetry accentuate the beautiful wallpaper.
This pretty marble sink lends big style to a small space.
And a white marble bathroom becomes a showpiece in Howard’s skilled hands.
This small but well-appointed balcony is the perfect spot to take advantage of a fabulous view. Just add a favorite cocktail for a perfect way to cap off a productive Atlanta day!
Thanks so much for stopping by today. We always love seeing you here!
