The city pied-a-terre is a right up there with the beach house or the mountain estate when it comes to dream houses.
And when it comes to pied-a-terres, this one, designed by one of our very favorite (and funniest!) designers, Andrew Howard, is the cream of the crop.
A Florida resident who has been tapped to bring out the best in some of the most exclusive homes in the Bahamas and beyond, this Atlanta project is just one of many stages on which Howard displays his range as a decorator.
He embraces the sleek and simple that the city demands,
While still inserting his signature playful style to make it family friendly and fun.
Layered patterns and the right blend of color give Howard’s homes a dash of whimsy that is always welcome–and sets his designs apart from the pack.
Unexpected details like bold ceilings and a perfectly imperfect gallery wall make a statement while still allowing the expansive views of the city to take center stage.
When it comes to good design, the details aren’t something, they are everything. The scallop accent on this console table and the perfect balance of symmetry and asymmetry accentuate the beautiful wallpaper.
This pretty marble sink lends big style to a small space.

Good morning, readers! We are packing for cold, snowy NYC today to wrap up a few final details before the The Secret to Southern Charm tour officially begins, but….
We didn’t see any reason for you to be cold too!
So, today, we’re sharing the good taste of Tracy Lynn Design, a San Diego-based firm whose interiors are as sunny inside as it is outside.
Cohesion in design is one of the firm’s main goals, after all.
And we think it’s safe to say that the interiors of these gorgeous California homes are as inviting as the state–and its people.
A sleek kitchen, upon closer inspection, is made up of a million tiny details, from the backsplash to the pendant lighting, that make it totally unique.
And every taste is catered to elegantly and effortlessly.
Blues, whites and coral are calming by the sea in a pretty bedroom made for relaxing.
And even those small spaces that tend to be forgotten become both useful and unique.
Where better to take advantage of the last bright light of the day than in a huge soaking tub made for relaxation.
White shiplap and uncovered bulbs juxtapose with a touch of brass for understated glamour that is so very San Diego.
It’s nice to keep a global view while brushing your teeth…
And a room that can grow as he does makes for a just-right nursery. We think these beautiful designs are as lovely as they city in which they reside. We hope you have loved the good taste of Tracy Lynn Designs as much as we have!
I AM SO, SO, SO EXCITED TO SHARE THAT SLIGHTLY SOUTH OF SIMPLE HAS BEEN CHOSEN AS A KINDLE AND BARNES AND NOBLE NOOK MONTHLY DEAL SO, FROM TODAY UNTIL APRIL 1, YOU CAN READ THE FIRST BOOK IN THE PEACHTREE BLUFF SERIES FOR ONLY $1.99–JUST IN TIME FOR THE THE SECRET TO SOUTHERN CHARM RELEASE ON APRIL 3.
Get your dose of good taste this Tuesday with the luscious, uber chic style of Wesley Moon. From soothing blues to glamorous metallics, beautiful built-ins to peerless porches, indoors or out, it’s hard to pick a favorite space.
We hope you loved this great taste as much as we did. Thanks so much for making us a part of your week!
THANKS SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO HAS TAKEN THE TIME TO READ MY LATEST NOVEL SLIGHTLY SOUTH OF SIMPLE! I AM SO GRATEFUL TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU. IF YOU HAVE READ, WOULD YOU CONSIDER WRITING A BRIEF REVIEW ON AMAZON? YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE PURCHASED THERE TO REVIEW, AND REVIEWS HELP AUTHORS SO VERY MUCH! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!
And speaking of books… Slightly South of Simple launches in less than three weeks! The lovely Katie Clooney at Preppy Empty Nester included it in her April Books, TV & Movies. She said, “I just finished it, and in a few words, I loved this book.” Thank you, Katie!
Good morning, chic readers! We have such a treat for you today: A fabulous, newly built Jacksonville, FL home designed by one of our favorite designers, Andrew Howard.
Howard told Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles: “I wanted it to feel like a collected home that had recently been updated.”
Taking a peek around the gorgeous house, we’d say he achieved that goal completely.
Wood cabinets can make a home feel dark and closed in, but this light color is rich, gorgeous and adds warmth without feeling dark.
This chic banquette is the perfect way to take advantage of a stunning water view. We wouldn’t ever want breakfast to end!
This backsplash and counter scheme is anything but ordinary. As shades of gray go, this is the perfect one.
When it comes to blues, Andrew Howard really knows how to pick ’em. The layered look of this dining room proves that pattern, texture and color can really make the dining room come to life.
Deep blues like this are some of our favorite color picks for 2017. They lend a masculine touch to an office that’s an alternative to traditional wood paneling and, with the right touches, can also be feminine and glamorous.
This spa-like retreat complements the beautiful ocean beyond the doors. The blues and tans bring the outdoors in beautifully.
Speaking of spa-like… This bathroom is positively stunning–and oh-so relaxing.
We think laundry rooms should be lovely if at all possible. Who wouldn’t want to do laundry in this gorgeous space?
One of our favorite things about Andrew Howard’s style is how effortlessly he infuses color into his schemes. This happy poppy color is both restful and fun–the perfect combination!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! We always love it when you do.
