10 Favorite Amber Interiors Kitchens

Good morning, chic readers! Do you spend as much time in your kitchen as we do? It isn’t just the cooking. It seems to always be the place that homework is done and, no matter what we plan, where friends gather. (Maybe because it’s where the wine lives?? We’re not sure.)

But, no matter the reason, we think that the room we spend so much time in should be one of the happiest, most loved and most attended to.

And, looking at these gorgeous photos, we’re pretty sure that Amber Interiors agrees!

We are people who simply need lots of sunshine.  So the gorgeous skylights in this beautiful open kitchen would suit us just perfectly. That range… Those floors… We can’t possibly pick a favorite element of this stunning space!

House Tour: New Beginning in Buckhead

beginning Buckhead house

This is the time of year when we really start to think about tradition.

beginning Buckhead house office

What’s special about it, what’s memorable.

beginning Buckhead house living room

The way that it bonds us together as family, as friends, as people traveling the same path at the same time.

But tradition isn’t just about what happens around the Thanksgiving table, about the afternoon football games, the tree-lightings, the turkey and the stuffing.

It’s also about home, or, in this case, a house in all its iterations,

beginning Buckhead house dining room

The way it grows and changes over time, morphs into the place where trends are embraced and families are formed,

Lives are lived and memories are made.

In the case of this beautiful Buckhead home, which has been imagined and reimagined for more than 100 years,

It has changed into a place where a couple and their two children could live comfortably and entertain in style

Designer Clary Bosbyshell of Margaux Interiors brought the vision to life, indoors and out, and, it’s safe to say, breathed new energy into this project.

All we can say is, here’s to the next 100 years!

Here’s What’s Next from the Murphy Women:

From internationally bestselling author and “rising star of Southern fiction” (Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling author) Kristy Woodson Harvey comes the third novel in her Peachtree Bluff series, in which a secret threatens the tight-knit bond between a trio of sisters and their mother.

With the man of her dreams back in her life and all three of her daughters happy, Ansley Murphy should be content. But she can’t help but feel like it’s all a little too good to be true.

Meanwhile, youngest daughter and actress Emerson, who is recently engaged and has just landed the role of a lifetime, seemingly has the world by the tail. Only, something she can’t quite put her finger on is worrying her—and it has nothing to do with her recent health scare.

When two new women arrive in Peachtree Bluff—one who has the potential to wreck Ansley’s happiness and one who could tear Emerson’s world apart—everything is put in perspective. And after secrets that were never meant to be told come to light, the powerful bond between the Murphy sisters and their mother comes crumbling down, testing their devotion to each other and forcing them to evaluate the meaning of family.

With Kristy Woodson Harvey’s signature charm, wit, and heart, The Southern Side of Paradise is another masterful Peachtree Bluff novel that proves she is a “Southern writer with staying power” (Booklist).

Creating a Dream Home–Down to the Last Detail

What do you think of when you hear the term “dream home?”

For us, so many different things come to mind.

We could dream of a tiny farm cottage with a picket fence and trailing ivy…

Or a sprawling country estate with horses and plenty of room for beautiful gardens

A quaint ski chalet…

Or a cedar shake New England home with plenty of room for visiting guests.

For us, a dream home could be anything, really, where we are surrounded by things we love–and people we love, of course.

No matter how you define “dream home,” we feel pretty sure that this qualifies as one.

The Fox Group.  has created an enviable space with so many stunning details it would be impossible to pick a favorite–

And we would could look at these photos a thousand times and still find something new to delight and inspire.

From open shelving on a very luxe level,

To extraordinary hardware,

Marble as far as the eye can see,

To a workspace for everyone in the family,

Each perfectly orchestrated area of this family house makes it feel like home.

We think it would be nearly impossible to pick a favorite room, a favorite detail. But if we had to, we think the bathroom in this dream home might take the cake!

What is your idea of a dream home? Is is luxurious, modern and spacious like this or something a little simpler? We’d love to know!

We hope you had an amazing weekend and are so grateful that you stopped by Design Chic to spend a bit of your Monday with us. We always love it when you do!

In Good Taste: Rafe Churchill Architecture

Gray kitchen with Green pendants- Rafe Churchill

Happy Tuesday, Design Chicers! (I am completely shocked that I have never thought of “Design Chicers” before. I think I’m using that from now on.) If you’re trying to escape from the cold today, escape with us–and the good taste of Rafe Churchill Architecture.

Gray kitchen with Farmhouse Sink - Rafe Churchill

Deep wood, dark counters, touches of brass… We’re feeling warmer already!

Farmhouse sink- Rafe Churchill

It is the details, as we all know, that make a home truly extraordinary, that take it from pretty to perfect. This sink is one of those details! Ditto those pulls.

large kitchen island - Rafe Churchill

We are firm believers that every room needs a touch of black, and we have a feeling that these architects and homeowners agree. The black bar stools are so chic!

farmhouse table with transitional chandelier - Rafe Churchill

Nothing warms us quite like the sun, and we are huge fans of all the windows in these lovely homes. This fixture is the perfect touch of whimsy.

gray kitchen with wood island - Rafe Churchill

Rustic wood… Soft grays… A pot of soup boiling on the stove… Every unique touch in this kitchen feels homey.

kitchen with butcher block island - Rafe Churchill

We’re always torn in the kitchen because, of course, we love to accessorize. But then again, there are so many things in the kitchen that take up space anyway. We love how this kitchen makes use of the fresh and the functional to add charm and depth.

farmhouse office - Rafe Churchill

I am currently in the process of designing my dream office–it won’t be this big, but I just need a tiny, cozy spot. And it is a LOT of pressure. You always dream about what you want your office to look like, but putting it down on paper and trying to visualize creating something from nothing… Well, it’s very fun but a little daunting. My must haves? My Delano desk from Currey & Co, major bookshelves, a fireplace and lots of light. These bookshelves are giving me lots of inspiration!

sewing room - Rafe Churchill

Seeing people’s charming craft rooms makes us wish we were crafty! We could pull out our sewing machine and whip up some new pillows or wrap a gift that would knock your socks off…

bathroom with oriental rug - Rafe Churchill

But, alas, it is not the case. We are, however, terrific at taking baths. (That’s something, right?)

bathroom with cowhide rug - Rafe Churchill

And this gorgeous room proves that bathtubs–and tile floors–don’t have to be white. We love the darker color combination here. It feels woodsy and warm.

farmhouse sunroom with shiplap ceiling - Rafe Churchill

This is the kind of place to spend a chilly day. Warm sun, cozy furniture, a snuggly throw… We could stay here and while away the afternoon… If only it weren’t time to pick up carpool!

However you spend your afternoon, we hope it’s wonderful!
