Beauty, sophistication and attention to detail are just a few of the things that come to mind when we think of Courtney Hill Interiors‘ good taste.

After spending so much time in our houses lately, we are appreciating the little things that make them feel like home now more than ever.

It’s those little things that we think make Hill’s work shine the very most.

In Good Taste: Minnie Peters

`Minnie Peters design kitchen with beams and ladder

There are certain things that always make us think of fall: Wood stacked in the fireplace

Minnie Peters kitchen with beams and soapstone counters and wood island

Beautiful, rustic beams

Minnie Peters design kitchen with soapstone countertops

An old-timey stove…

Minnie Peters entry with wood beams

And raw wood accents–especially when they’re paired with fall leaves of every color.

Minnie Peters glass front sliding cabinet in kitchen

Minnie Peters’ great taste, filled with lovely European influences, has us feeling fall today!

Minnie Peters dining room with round table

A soothing color palette,

  Minnie Peters louvered closet door

Antique accents (and wellies by the door!),

   laundry room

And the most charming architectural accents,

   butler's pantry with white china

Add up to a chicly lovely home that looks warm, cozy and lived in in the best possible way.

A few antique accents add charm in droves,

And create eye-catching vignettes that are impossible to look away from.

Minnie Peters bathroom with freestanding tub and chandelier over tub

This tub is exactly the kind of place we’d like to soak with a cup of apple tea all fall long… What about you?

In Good Taste: Humphrey Munson Handmade Kitchens

Pasta. Pottery. Presents.

Everything is better when it’s handmade.

Including the most important–and often most used–room in the house.

The kitchen, of course.

These Humphrey Munson kitchens take “custom” to the next level, employing only the finest hard woods, natural stones and high end appliances in their stunning spaces. And it goes without saying that every member of the team is masterful.

The result? A truly bespoke kitchen that focuses on meeting every single need, from storage with style and stability,

To a practical and beautiful pantry where everything is right at eye level.

Food storage has never ever looked this good.

From butler’s pantries that wow,

To china storage that keeps everything right where you can see it,

Every facet of the Humphrey Munson experience is well thought out and fabulously functional. (Ladders are one of our favorite accessories!)

Beautiful mudrooms where everything has a place might very well be one of the foundations for a neat and tidy kitchen–and entire house, really.

And each ounce of cabinetry and woodwork–whether it’s in the light and bright of the kitchen or dark of the back hallway, is utter perfection. Do you love these handmade spaces as much as we do?

House Tour: Historical Concepts

House Tour: Historical Concepts

Trust us, there’s nothing we love better than an old house. (We have the houses to prove it.) But, well, historical homes come with their fair share of, let’s say, issues.

So we love the idea of the new old house. You know the kind. It looks like an old house, but is built brand new, i.e., you probably won’t have to have a handyman on payroll.

That look can be very, very tricky to achieve, as adding that character isn’t something just anyone can pull off.

But we think Historical Concepts does the old new house better than pretty much anyone in the business, building new houses that ooze old world charm.

It is the little things that turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, like these beautiful blue doors.

And unexpected elements–like this unique ceiling–set this kitchen apart from the pack.

Beautiful windows with lots of light and a marble farmhouse sink make a stunning statement.

Talk about a dream pantry! Wow! And we couldn’t love this library ladder any more.

This wood paneling adds so much charm to an other basic stairwell.

And a barrel ceiling makes this hallway an experience.

Bold navy blue trim adds an instant nautical feel–and these beds are so chic!

Every space feels like an occasion with Historical Concepts.

But–no surprises here–we think we might love the outdoor spaces most of all!

What is your favorite way to make a new house feel old?

Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We always love it when you stop by!
