Good morning, chic readers! After a long weekend in Manhattan, we are very much in the holiday spirit! Between the Christmas windows, ice skating at Rockefeller Center, having breakfast with Santa, Christmas shopping and the SNOW, we are feeling like Christmastime is most definitely here!
But if you aren’t quite there yet, don’t worry. We’re here to help you along– beginning with these gorgeous, gorgeous trees. They would motivate anyone to put on their coat and hat and go out in search of the perfect fir or spruce! (Or, you know, pull it out of the attic. Whatever.)
We know it goes against everything we’ve learned our entire lives, everything we’ve been taught.
But, when it comes to Christmas trees, we have to think that it’s what’s on the outside that counts.
While some Christmas ornaments can be a little more kid friendly, it’s also easy to find classier and more grownup options for those years when life isn’t centered around who is going to remember to move the elf…
From beautifully painted ornaments to hand-blown glass, metallics to neutrals, decorating the Christmas tree doesn’t just mean talking Santas and whimsy galore anymore.
But, the good news is, it certainly can! Whether you prefer brightly colored Christmas decorations with plenty of lights and maybe even little tinsel,
Or a refined, grown-up, totally chic tree,
Christmas tree decorations come in as many options, shapes and sizes as the presents underneath the branches, and are a great way to express your unique tastes and style.
With so many gorgeous options, why not have more than one?
Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day! Happy holiday decorating!
Last week we had the pleasure of spending a fun-filled long weekend in the place that we think gets as close to Christmas magic as you can without going to the North Pole: NYC! I had the most amazing day of meetings with the team at Gallery Books (Simon & Schuster) about all that is THE SECRET TO SOUTHERN CHARM, the sequel to SLIGHTLY SOUTH OF SIMPLE and the second book in Peachtree Bluff series–and filmed fun videos that I can’t wait to share with you! To celebrate the upcoming launch (April 3, 2018!) and get you in the holiday spirit, we’re giving away a $100 Amazon gift card for your holiday essentials. Enter below!
Now that we have finished hauling the rest of the Christmas decorations out of storage it is finally feeling like the most wonderful time of the year! Decorating for Christmas is one of our favorite things to do. If you need a little help getting started–or simply can’t get enough holiday decor–take a peek at this gorgeous Buckhead home from Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles photographed by the fabulous Emily Followill Photography.
We hope that whatever the rest of this holiday week holds, it fills you with joy. Thanks for making Design Chic a part of your celebration!
After weeks of high sixties and mid-seventies temperatures here, it has finally gotten cold. We’ll never quite understand North Carolina weather, how it is seventy-five and then, all of a sudden, with no warning, you wake up and it’s thirty-two and it stays that way for months. But, it actually makes us kind of excited, the cold weather.
Are your trees trimmed? Halls decked? Stockings hung by the chimney with care? If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, don’t worry. Take a page from the fabulous Pam Kelley to make every room in the house merry and bright!
The countdown is on and there are only eighteen decorating days left until Christmas! Fortunately, we have some of the most fabulous inspiration photos to put the finishing touches on any decor scheme.
