House Tour: Jenny Wolf Interiors Showstopper

Jenny Wolf Interiors brass lock on entry door

When we saw this lock, we knew that this Devonshire house tour from Jenny Wolf Interiors, was off to a good start.  It’s a fantastic indicator of what’s to come beyond the front door!

The laid-back chic vibe of this house pulled us in right away.

And a little touch of rustic increases the feeling of comfort and being right at home.

Great quotes are a favorite of ours. And we think this is one to remember. “Some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moments and making the most of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next… Delicious ambiguity.”

And deliciousness is what the kitchen is all about!

Jenny Wolf Interiors adds special little touches that make a home unique.  These wire cabinets are fantastic! And the elephant is so sweet!

Jenny Wolf Interiors bathroom with steel shower door and black paint

This gorgeous bathroom proves that black walls don’t have to feel dark. White accents and plenty of light lend that airy feel.

This brass mirror and steel faucet add to the industrial feel.

Glass and steel windows and doors are one of our favorite elements of a home. As a shower door, they shine!

Antique accents add to the eclectic feel, proving that choosing things you love and mixing them together in a way that seems right is always a winning idea.

Thanks so much to everyone who has taken the time to read my latest novel Slightly South of Simple! I am so grateful to each and every one of you. If you have read, would you consider writing a brief review on Amazon? You don’t have to have purchased there to review, and reviews help authors so very much! Thanks for all your support!

What The Relished Roost is saying about Slightly South of Simple:

If you have a second, you have to take a peek at the gorgeous post from Karolyn from The Relished Roost recreating protagonist Ansley Murphy’s Peachtree Bluff home. It’s perfection!

“The lovely yet somewhat poignant “Slightly South Of Simple” grabbed me by the heart the minute I realized it had three daughters as the main characters. It was such a heartfelt story about a single mother whom years after the loss of her husband has events that force the return of her three daughters, while trying to allow herself to finally find herself and move on.  There are twists and turns but lots of love throughout the winding path taken on the this journey. This is the perfect Summer read ladies!  Of course once again I am partial  because the matriarch “Ansley” is also an interior decorator so I truly do relate and relish her sense of style and work ethic.
I believe you will not only be able to picture these lovely women and men in your mind by Kristy’s vivid description,  but also their environments , whether it be a home or a boat!” — Karolyn Stephenson, The Relished Roost

Books in Interiors

Good morning, chic readers! We hope you are having a very happy Monday. This is my first week back from the truly epic Slightly South of Simple tour, and, as fun as it was to be on the road, it’s great to be home–and just in time for summer!

But, just because I’m home from tour doesn’t mean that I don’t have books on the brain.

We are formulating our ridiculously lengthy summer reading lists…

And, of course, we always, always love a great book in an even better design scheme.

Stacks on the coffee table are a forever favorite, perfect not only for aesthetics but also for picking up and perusing.

We’re also big fans of using a single, statement book to punctuate an end table.

We usually think of books as going on the end table, but, really this just cuts out the middle man! If you’re like us, the stacks could easily be taller than the table.

One of the best things about decorating with books is that they are a terrific way to add pops of color. From pink to blue to black and everything in between, they add a pretty punch to any space.

Books are even welcome on a favorite bar cart. We’d recommend favorite cocktail recipe books for instant entertaining! What are your favorite books to have around your home? And what books are topping your summer reads list?

What People are Saying about Slightly South of Simple:

House Tour: Tuxedo Park

Good morning, chic friends! I may be traveling for Lies and Other Acts of Love signings … But that doesn’t mean my heart isn’t down South!

No matter where your heart lies, this fabulous home from Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles won’t disappoint!

The Warmth of Wood

Artichoke, Ltd

Kitchens are the subject of many a home renovation these days, and there are so many tiny details that can help define the kitchen to make it a chic heart of the home.

Ike Kligerman Barkley

One of our favorites? Wood! Here are ten ways to add a touch of wood to one of everyone’s favorite spaces.

1. Incorporate Beams: Wood beams add a hint of rustic charm to any space, no matter how elegant.

2. Add Bar Stools: When it comes to bar stools, we think mixing materials is always a good idea. This combination of wood, metal and rattan adds color and texture for a chic look.

3. Accentuate the Island: A little bit of wood goes a long way. This rich tones of this island add juxtaposition and charm.

4. Use a Library Ladder: A library ladder is one of our bucket list home items. While we’d ideally love to have the library to go along with it, a ladder can be incredibly useful in a kitchen too.

5. Repurpose a Piece of Furniture: We tend to think of built-ins in the kitchen, but there’s no real reason why everything has to be. A favorite chest, armoire or corner-cupboard looks beautiful and adds a surprising element. Extra credit if it’s an antique!

6. Mix in Butcher Block Counters: For the ultimate in functional wood additions, butcher block counters are a perfect fit. This workspace is as pretty as it is practical.

7. Rethink Shelving: We love the look of open shelving, but it doesn’t have to be an all or nothing approach. These pretty wood shelves are the right touch of casual while cabinets lend plenty of space for covered up storage.

8. Choose Hardwood Floors: Need we say more? Any color, any style, this design staple has staying power for a reason!

9. Decorate with Cutting Boards: For a low maintenance, inexpensive touch of wood, a cutting board fits the bill perfectly. It adds all the charm of wood and makes sure cook prep is only an arm’s length away.

Betty Lou Phillips

10. Incorporate Fun(ctional) Accessories: We all want our kitchens to be pretty, sure. But of all the rooms in the house, function in the kitchen is key. Wood tools and ways to organize them add a hint of this great material while keeping things organized.

What’s your favorite way to incorporate wood into a kitchen?
