Good morning, friends! As another week dawns on this extraordinary time, we hope you and yours are safe, healthy and finding joy where you can!
We don’t know about you, but we haven’t been welcoming many people a single, breathing human into our homes for weeks on end now.
So, if you’re like us and haven’t been visiting too many people, we thought it would be nice to share some of our favorite warm, welcoming foyers that feel like walking into the home of a family member or best friend–even if you’re just right on your couch!
While having essentials right at hand makes running out on the fly much easier,
And, for the absolute ultimate in foyer style, a puppy never hurts!
Bright and beautiful,
Cozy and perfectly styled,
These coastal-inspired foyers make us feel like we’ve just spent a fun day on the beach and are returning to the warmth and comfort of a long-time friend’s home. We hope they make you feel the same!
Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We love seeing you here!

Especially when it comes to housing lots of guests,
with plenty of storage.
And there’s even the perfect space for our favorite four-legged friends!
The laundry room is as lovely as any we’ve ever seen,
But the outdoors is where it gets too good to be true. That planter… Those lanterns… Those chairs… And, most of all, that view.
We could move right in! What about you? I think it’s safe to say that Heather Chadduck outdid herself with this design. And the photography by Laurey Glenn captured every special moment in all its glory. We could tour again and again!
Thanks so much for stopping by Design Chic today. We love it when you do!

Feels Like Falling Kristy Woodson Harvey. Gallery, $16 trade paper (400p) ISBN 978-1-9821-1770-2 https://www.publishersweekly.com/978-1-9821-1770-2Harvey (The Southern Side of Paradise) serves up a tale of disaster-turned serendipity in the fictional Cape Carolina, N.C. Successful businesswoman Gray Howard begrudgingly promotes her husband to CFO of her marketing company, ClickMarket, only for him to leave her for the assistant she hired for him. Reeling from a painful, cash-draining divorce, she inadvertently causes Diana, a photo developer at a pharmacy, to lose her job by complaining about her work. After learning this, Gray hires Diana to work as a housekeeper. Over time, the women vent about their lives and forge a friendship that heals them both. The story alternates between Gray’s voice and Diana’s, delving into Diana’s past heartaches and lost hope for having a child. In pitch-perfect tones, Harvey creates two Southern women doing their best to deal with everything life throws at them, and her able plotting will keep readers turning the pages. Secondary characters—Gray’s witty assistant, Trey; her new, younger boyfriend, Andrew; and Diana’s fiercely loyal friend group—add charm. Harvey’s optimistic tale just might convince readers that bouncing back can actually land a person in a better place than where they started. Agent: Elisabeth Weed, the Book Group. (Apr.)
“My prediction is that writers come and writers go, but Kristy Woodson Harvey is here to stay. The warmth, wit, and wisdom of this novel pave her way into the exclusive sisterhood of southern writers.” (―The Huffington Post)
“[I]f I recommend one book to you this year (so far), let it be Slightly South of Simple for your first beach read. The darling and charming Kristy Woodson Harvey’s latest novel is the definition of a summer novel. I loved it almost as I love her.”–Jessica, Simply Bedazzled
