It was at that young age that she decided her love of interiors was more than a future career. It was a vocation, a calling.
From Spain to the US, France to Japan and even the Dominican Republic, Isabel’s projects span the globe and earned her Spanish Architectural Digest‘s “Best Interiorist” in 2012. She was also on the AD 100 in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
More about At Home: Innovatively combining period and contemporary furniture and art in a sophisticated mix, the homes of Isabel López-Quesada are inspirational and unforgettable. In At Home, the Spanish designer tells her own story.
López-Quesada introduces her family and their traditions, and reveals her sources of inspiration—such as the work of earlier designers like Renzo Mongiardino and John Stefanidis. She relates how she transformed an abandoned wax factory in a leafy district of Madrid into her family home and atelier, and then recounts how she created a country home out of a run-down Basque farm in the hills outside of Biarritz, France.
Both the Madrid and Biarritz properties have been affectionately documented by Miguel Flores-Vianna, who has photographed interiors, patios, and gardens, as well as López-Quesada’s design studios.
If you’re looking for a gorgeous treat to make your fall brighter–or you’re ready to get a jump on your holiday shopping–check out Isabel Lopez-Quesada At Home.

Leaving fans “practically [begging] for a sequel” (Bookpage), critically acclaimed author Kristy Woodson Harvey returns with the second novel in her beloved Peachtree Bluff series, featuring a trio of sisters and their mother who discover a truth that will change not only the way they see themselves, but also how they fit together as a family.
After finding out her military husband is missing in action, middle sister Sloane’s world crumbles as her worst nightmare comes true. She can barely climb out of bed, much less summon the strength to be the parent her children deserve.
Her mother, Ansley, provides a much-needed respite as she puts her personal life on hold to help Sloane and her grandchildren wade through their new grief-stricken lives. But between caring for her own aging mother, her daughters, and her grandchildren, Ansley’s private worry is that secrets from her past will come to light.
But when Sloane’s sisters, Caroline and Emerson, remind Sloane that no matter what, she promised her husband she would carry on for their young sons, Sloane finds the support and courage she needs to chase her biggest dreams—and face her deepest fears. Taking a cue from her middle daughter, Ansley takes her own leap of faith and realizes that, after all this time, she might finally be able to have it all.
Harvey’s signature warmth and wit make this a charming and poignant story of first loves, missed opportunities, and second chances and proves that she is “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand, New York Times bestselling author).
My 92-year-old grandmother started aerobics yesterday. Yes. Started. In the thirty-three years I’ve known her, she hasn’t been much for exercise, but September is a really good time to start something new if you’re going to. And there’s no time like the present.
One of our Design Chic favorites, architect Jeffrey Dungan, decided to start something new too–and we couldn’t be more excited!
A little more about the book:Architect Jeffrey Dungan is recognized for his clean and modern approach to traditional homes. His fresh take on architecture is rooted in the beauty of materials rendered in their natural state. Dungan’s projects poetically embrace clean lines and natural elements, to reveal a timeless home that can be enjoyed by future generations to come. Layered in between are thematic essays and more than 240 images that showcase Dungan’s approach to architecture and the importance of elements and materials that honors THE NATURE OF HOME.
When it comes to home, this timeless approach couldn’t be more important. Because while, sure, home is a canvas that is always evolving, it’s the basis of it, the roots, the things that stay the same in the meantime that create those true and lasting memories, that feeling when you pull in the driveway, when you walk in the front door.
With Memorial Day so close we can taste it, we’re making our plans and calling friends and lining our beach reads up nicely in a row.
But it isn’t fair that we get to have all the beach read fun. What about our houses??
If your coffee table is looking for a little spruce now that the unofficial start to summer is almost here, Ray Booth’s new Evocative Interiors is a must, must-read!
The best rooms–like the best literature–evoke emotions in us, make us feel something right off the bat.
There is no doubt that Booth’s rooms do just that, so, of course, this is an extremely aptly titled book.
Whether he is designing a cozy, chic master bedroom or a sprawling living room filled with light, this designer’s range and talent is fully on display in his debut coffee table book. We couldn’t love Evocative Interiors any more–and hope that you will pick up a copy for your home! Don’t forget that books make the best hostess gifts! With all those summer parties, now is a fabulous time to stock up!
Thanks so much for stopping by Design Chic. We love it when you do!
