Things We Love: Antique Tortoise Bamboo

Toledo GellerJacob Snavely Photography

Good morning, chic readers! We hope you and your families are remaining safe and well right now. We’re so glad to see you here and hope pretty homes are providing a small respite for you each day, as they are for us.

As many of your know, if things were business as usual, we would be prepping for the major furniture event of the year: High Point Market! For obvious reasons, it has been postponed until June, but, in light of the delay, a few of our favorite companies, like Kenian Imports, are giving us a really special opportunity. This normally to-the-trade only brand is giving us the chance to take orders for the public! (Details at the bottom of this post, but, basically, email us at [email protected] for more info!)

Kenian graces our houses in so many ways, and we are in love with their classic bamboo pieces–and more! This Twisted Round Mirror is the perfect focal point for this gorgeous living room.

Kara Hebert Interiors

And this antique tortoise English Desk and Chair is one of our most favorite Kenian sets. It’s perfect for an office space, of course, but we also love it in place of a nightstand in a guest bedroom.

Janie Molster

Dining and breakfast rooms can be tricky to decorate, but these Sidney Chairs add instant pizazz and so much style!

Kara Hebert Interiors

At a desk or as an occasional chair, this rush seat chair is exquisitely crafted.

Lisa Mende Design

One of the very first things we bought for our house in Beaufort was a pair of consoles for the living room. I actually love them even more today than I did then! These Sidney Chairs and this large buffet console make a statement in a dining room, entrance hall or anywhere, really!

Lisa Mende Design

Kenian Imports caught our eye at first because of its stunning bamboo. (This is important to us. To give you an idea, we ordered THREE sets of bamboo directors chairs–non-returnable ones, no less–for our dining room before finally discovering Kenian’s perfect patina with the look of antique but the strength of new.) But most of their pieces, like these Palm Beach Chippendale Arm Chairs, are paint to order. With a huge range of colors to choose from, the options are practically endless.

Nothing is quite as “now” as this fabulous Madrid table & Bistro Chairs. This set has a future in my new breakfast room!

James Farmer

This Antique tortoise bachelor’s chest is the perfect nightstand, but certainly doesn’t need to be restricted to the bedroom.

We have a pair of this antique tortoise English rectangular table–as well as a coffee table, loveseat, pair of chairs and cooler–on our back screened porch. They are positively charming and have held up beautifully.

Janie Molster

There is definitely a pair of this new Chippendale peacock chair in our future! Talk about a statement!!

Take tour of the Kenian Imports website and email us at [email protected] for more information. We are also happy to take orders! Take advantage of getting this normally to-the-trade brand delivered right to your door. We can’t wait to see the splashes of Kenian Imports pieces in your spring and summer home decor makeovers!

Things We Love: Decorating the Console

Tracery Interiors

Finding a piece of furniture we love is usually easy. It’s styling it to make it blend beautifully in the room that can be harder!

Console tables are some of our favorite pieces for tricky spaces.

There are so many great spots for a console table. As this photo shows, it can even serve as an impromptu bar! These homeowners get extra points for greeting guests with champagne!

New England Home

We have used console tables as desks in small spaces, and we adore the idea of keeping an ottoman underneath for instant transformation into a chic (masculine) vanity. And talk about a one-of-a-kind accessory! We can all use a helping hand every now and then.

If we had to pick one thing that we thought was most important over a console table, we’d say it’s the art or mirror over it. But why choose? This mirror/photograph combination is perfect.

A pretty table is a great spot to display favorite things–and incorporate favorite colors. This yellow really pops!

One thing we always focus on is height. Lamps, candlesticks and vases like this are great ways to add it!

If you ask us, symmetry is always in style. We love the look of a pair of lamps.

Sometimes less really is more. With a console this beautiful, there’s no need to fill it with a bunch of stuff!

Sometimes we think we have to choose one statement piece, but this vignette proves that isn’t true. So many fabulous things going on here!

Using all that vertical space is always a great idea. This basket full of beach towels is cute and functional!

A statement mirror, height on the end… This outdoor table is gorgeous–and, better yet, party ready! We couldn’t love it more. What’s your favorite way to style a console table?
