Things We Love: Farmhouse Style Kitchens

Hendricks Churchill

There is something about the change of seasons that always makes us want a change of scenery. As the air gets that first hint of crispness and the humidity starts to fade, we immediately begin dreaming of a little place in the country, maybe in the mountains, maybe on a farm

Hendriks Churchill

We imagine gathering fresh eggs and cutting lettuces for salads and sipping mint-infused iced tea in a rocking chair overlooking acres of green.

So, no, we don’t have that farmhouse. But that doesn’t mean that our kitchens can’t hold all our farmhouse fantasies.

William Litchfield

Beautiful beams, a hint of rustic charm and the sense that everything is better when it doesn’t have to be perfectly in place, help create that farmhouse feel–even if there’s nowhere to house those chickens.

Oh, and a farmhouse sink, of course.

A farmhouse sink is mandatory.

What People are Saying About Slightly South of Simple:

“My prediction is that writers come and writers go, but Kristy Woodson Harvey is here to stay. The warmth, wit, and wisdom of this novel pave her way into the exclusive sisterhood of southern writers.” (—The Huffington Post)

Things We Love: Farmhouse Sinks

farmhouse sinks in kitchen
The Wiseman Group via Dering Hall

This is the time of year we always start dreaming about a farmhouse. The weather starts to get colder (Well, theoretically… It’s still 75 degrees, but that can’t possibly last forever.) and it has us dreaming of cowboy boots and Barbour jackets, bonfires and oyster roasts, all in the comfort of our very own acreage with a charming little cabin. So, no, we’re probably not going to be acquiring a farmhouse any time soon. But why not daydream about the next best thing:  farmhouse sinks! Perfect for washing all those homegrown vegetables, (or, you know, the ones you bought…) it’s as close as your kitchen can get to the fields. Unless, of course, it is actually in the fields… In which case, we’d love to come visit! Take a peek at these gorgeous farmhouse sinks and let us know what you think!
