As the holidays draw nearer, we’re thinking about all the preparations we still need to make–especially in the kitchen.

Some of them are simple, like gathering all the pot holders and towels and putting them beside the stove.

(How do they migrate to different drawers over the course of the year? Maybe it’s the same force of nature that creates all those missing socks in the dryer.)

Others are more complex like Mom deciding that December 4 was the ideal time to take down her wallpaper and art and curtains and redo the kitchen and breakfast room.

But we think the most important ones have to do with relinquishing anything and everything that no longer has a place in our kitchen.

The Crock Pot we haven’t used in a decade–or at least since that episode of This is Us. (Kidding! Kidding! We use ours all the time.)

The storage containers with no lids.

The baby bottles from the now seven year old.

We’re most excited to clear the clutter, leave a streamlined kitchen for holiday cooking–and maybe even prepare for a kitchen-related gift or two.

Do you have any kitchen goodies or gadgets on your wishlist this year? We’d love to know what they are!

And, more important, what kitchen preparations make your home feel ready for the holidays?
