House Tour: Dallas Showstopper by Jenkins Interiors

Texas Dining Room

Jenkins Interiors – Dallas, Texas home Wentwood

People have a lot of preconceived notions about Texas, don’t you think? Maybe more than any other state.

Texas living room

it’s all about big hair and barbecue and trucks and hats and cowboy boots, all of which, trust us, we are highly amenable to.

Texas living room

But Jenkins Interiors, among others of our designer friends, has given us a new stereotype about Texas: The homes are incredible, in no small part, of course, to these fabulous designers.

Texas living room

This house lives up to one stereotype in that it is nothing short of luxe.

Texas living room

But a laid-back luxe, which is all the better.

Texas wine bar

If you ask us, this is a major (super chic!) improvement on the dank, dark, musty wine cellar. And those butterflies? Perfection!

Texas kitchen

Beauty is all in the details and this fume hood combined with that range and those barstools… It’s eye candy at its finest.

Texas kitchen

And a pink pot is the perfect touch!

Texas breakfast room

Pops of color keep this home vibrant, down to earth, and totally livable.

Texas bedroom

We love the way the pinks, blues and golds are carried throughout the color scheme.

Texas closet

It adds such uniformity to a large space–even the closet! (The to-die-for closet!!)

Texas bathroom

Herringbone floors are another hallmark of this stunning home.

Texas bedroom

As are gorgeous, gorgeous windows.

Texas bathroom

From a pink bathroom fit for a princess,

To a little boy’s room to dream about,

Texas bathroom

Everyone has the right beautiful space in this home.

Texas laundry room

Even the laundry!

Texas porch

No surprise here: The outside is as stunning as the inside. We don’t know about you, but we think Jenkins Interiors has outdone themselves in this Dallas home. And it rumors are to be believed, outdoing yourself over and over again is what Texas is all about.

Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of you day. We always love it when you stop by!

House Tour: Rivers Cottage by Geoffrey Chick

We don’t know about you, but, with only a couple weeks left of summer vacation, we are in mourning!

Fortunately, there is still time to savor these last few weeks of summer and tour this fabulous home by Geoffrey Chick.

Taking its color palette from nature, this house couldn’t feel more relaxing or refreshing.

Easy slip covers and no-fuss floors are perfect for wet feet and sandy bathing suits.

And you know there’s nothing we love more than a pop of blue!

A wide farmhouse sink is perfect for washing fresh-caught fish.

And tall ceilings and big windows allow for plenty of light.

Unique art–like these framed bathing suits–adds so much charm.

Everything about this home says, “Come in, relax and enjoy your vacation!”

Painted plank walls and vaulted ceilings are two of our favorite things. The only thing better than the two of them apart is the two of them together!

We love how the shades of water blues are carried throughout this home,

And that upscale finishes like marble are juxtaposed with casual wood to maintain that beachy feel.

What’s a beach house without a bunk room

And a double double is perfect for housing a family of guests.

The only thing better than the interior of this summer vacation spot is the exterior. Geoffrey Chick has thought of everything! Even though summer might be drawing to a close, we’re wishing you blue waters and sunny skies for a long, long time!

Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day!

Marshall Watson Visits Beaufort, NC!

Marshall Watson
Photographer: Francesco Lagnese

Good morning, chic readers! Did you have a good weekend? We sure did. It was full of fun related to the Beaufort Historical Association Homes Tour, but the best part of all, the icing on the cake, was a fabulous brunch in the yard of a gorgeous Beaufort Home with our friend and one of our most favorite designers, Marshall Watson.

You’ve heard us rave about his incredible range as a designer before, the way that he can take on any project, in any town, for any family and make it reflect the owners’ wants and needs.

And with his background, it’s no wonder, really.

From a career as a fine painter to studying design at Stanford to studying at FIT, Watson has more than his share of credentials.

But, as with all those at the top of their field, there is also something in Waston’s work that cannot be taught, a keen eye and natural understanding of symmetry and balance, of what goes into the story that a home is telling.

Watson told the audience that he draws on his background as an actor (He was one of the stars of As the World Turns in the ’80s among his many other acting credentials!), where he really learned to disappear into the character, to really put a lot of himself aside and focus only on what his clients need and want.

Even still, from Mexico to 5th Avenue, Salt Lake City to St. Louis, a sense of timeless elegance and style unifies all of Watson’s projects.

His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Veranda, House Beautiful, Luxe, House and Garden, Traditional Homes, Hamptons Cottages and Gardens and the New York Times. He has also been featured in New York Spaces, Metropolitan Home, The Chicago Tribune, as well as being a regular design columnist for the Southampton Press.

He received Traditional Home’s “Designer of the Year” award and has been featured on Luxe’s Gold List.

Doris Leslie Blau says he is, “one of America’s most respected design industry leaders.”

And all of that is true, of course. But New York Social Diary’s proclamation that he is “kind to the core” may resonate most of all.

We loved sharing more of Marshall Watson‘s peerless work with you today and hope you will check out his beyond fabulous coffee table book, The Art of Elegance
