More About Under the Southern Sky

Recently separated Amelia Buxton, a dedicated journalist, never expected that uncovering the biggest story of her career would become deeply personal. But when she discovers that a cluster of embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned,” she’s put in the unenviable position of telling Parker—and dredging up old wounds in the process.

Parker has been unable to move forward since the loss of his beloved wife three years ago. He has all but forgotten about the frozen embryos, but once Amelia reveals her discovery, he knows that if he ever wants to get a part of Greer back, he’ll need to accept his fate as a single father and find a surrogate.

Each dealing with their own private griefs, Parker and Amelia slowly begin to find solace in one another as they navigate an uncertain future against the backdrop of the pristine waters of their childhood home, Buxton Beach. The journey of self-discovery leads them to an unforgettable and life-changing lesson: Family—the one you’re born into and the one you choose—is always closer than you think.

From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand, #1 New York Times bestselling author), Under the Southern Sky is a fresh and unforgettable exploration of love, friendship, and the unbreakable ties that bind.

AND , in case you haven’t read Feels Like Falling, now is your chance!  It’s on sale for $1.99 on Kindle for a limited time.  Check it out HERE!

Trends come and go, but elegance and timelessness never go out of style. — Jeffrey Dungan

And there’s no denying that Jeffrey Dungan has absolutely mastered both timelessness and elegance.

The beauty of his work, to us, has always been in its apparent simplicity.

But, as Dungan would remind us…

In the pursuit of simplicity, I’ve found there is a lot of complexity that must be mastered first.

MORE ABOUT Under the Southern Sky:

Two childhood friends discover that love—and family—can be found in unconventional ways in this timely, moving novel from the USA TODAY bestselling author of the “beautifully Southern, evocative Peachtree Bluff series” (Kristin Harmel, internationally bestselling author of The Winemaker’s Wife).

The Nature of Home: Creating Timeless Houses

Jeffrey Duncan Architect entrance

William Abranowicz Photography

My 92-year-old grandmother started aerobics yesterday. Yes. Started. In the thirty-three years I’ve known her, she hasn’t been much for exercise, but September is a really good time to start something new if you’re going to. And there’s no time like the present.

Jeffrey Duncan Architect entrance

One of our Design Chic favorites, architect Jeffrey Dungan, decided to start something new too–and we couldn’t be more excited!

Jeffrey Duncan Architect kitchen

His new book, The Nature of Home: Creating Timeless Houses, released on September 4, and, in our opinion, it’s one of the best of the year so far!

Jeffrey Duncan Architect bedroom

A little more about the book: Architect Jeffrey Dungan is recognized for his clean and modern approach to traditional homes. His fresh take on architecture is rooted in the beauty of materials rendered in their natural state. Dungan’s projects poetically embrace clean lines and natural elements, to reveal a timeless home that can be enjoyed by future generations to come. Layered in between are thematic essays and more than 240 images that showcase Dungan’s approach to architecture and the importance of elements and materials that honors THE NATURE OF HOME.

Jeffrey Duncan Architect home

When it comes to home, this timeless approach couldn’t be more important. Because while, sure, home is a canvas that is always evolving, it’s the basis of it, the roots, the things that stay the same in the meantime that create those true and lasting memories, that feeling when you pull in the driveway, when you walk in the front door

No one does home quite as well as Jeffrey Dungan

The Nature of Home, in 240 captivating photos, and a series of fascinating, well written essays, proves that once and for all!

Make sure to pick up your copy of The Nature of Home from your local bookstore, Amazon or wherever books are sold!

In Good Taste: ADAC’S Architect of the Year

 Jeffrey Dungan entrance

Oh my goodness… We are SO excited! In case you haven’t heard, Jeffrey Dungan has been named ADAC’s 2017 Architect of the Year!

We aren’t surprised.  Not even a little.

 Jeffrey Dungan

One, quick glance at Dungan’s work and it’s evident that he is completely deserving of this honor.

But there is nothing better than seeing talented, kind people whose work you have loved for years get acknowledged in such a big, big way!

From well thought out floor plans,

To extraordinary built-ins,

The perfect windows for every space,

To architectural details that create a mood,

Each space that Dungan undertakes is more fabulous than the last.

We could never pick a favorite space, but this rustic charm might be up there. It’s perfect for a cozy winter day.

Congrats again, Jeffrey! We are so excited for you and think it goes without saying that this is a well-deserved honor!

Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles

Thanks so much to everyone who has been so supportive of my Peachtree Bluff series. If you haven’t read Slightly South of Simple or The Secret to Southern Charm, pick up your copies before The Southern Side of Paradise (NOW AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER!) releases May 7, 2019!

Here’s What’s Next from the Murphy Women:

From internationally bestselling author and “rising star of Southern fiction” (Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling author) Kristy Woodson Harvey comes the third novel in her Peachtree Bluff series, in which a secret threatens the tight-knit bond between a trio of sisters and their mother.

With the man of her dreams back in her life and all three of her daughters happy, Ansley Murphy should be content. But she can’t help but feel like it’s all a little too good to be true.

Meanwhile, youngest daughter and actress Emerson, who is recently engaged and has just landed the role of a lifetime, seemingly has the world by the tail. Only, something she can’t quite put her finger on is worrying her—and it has nothing to do with her recent health scare.

When two new women arrive in Peachtree Bluff—one who has the potential to wreck Ansley’s happiness and one who could tear Emerson’s world apart—everything is put in perspective. And after secrets that were never meant to be told come to light, the powerful bond between the Murphy sisters and their mother comes crumbling down, testing their devotion to each other and forcing them to evaluate the meaning of family.

With Kristy Woodson Harvey’s signature charm, wit, and heart, The Southern Side of Paradise is another masterful Peachtree Bluff novel that proves she is a “Southern writer with staying power” (Booklist).
