It’s summertime on the North Carolina coast and the livin’ is easy. Unless, that is, you’ve just lost your mother to cancer, your sister to her extremist husband, and your husband to his executive assistant. Meet Gray Howard. Right when Gray could use a serious infusion of good karma in her life, she inadvertently gets a stranger, Diana Harrington, fired from her job at the local pharmacy. Diana Harrington’s summer isn’t off to the greatest start either: Hours before losing her job, she broke up with her boyfriend and moved out of their shared house with only a worn-out Impala for a bed. Lucky for her, Gray has an empty guest house and a very guilty conscience. With Gray’s kindness, Diana’s tide begins to turn. But when her first love returns, every secret from her past seems to resurface all at once. And, as Gray begins to blaze a new trail, she discovers, with Diana’s help, that what she envisioned as her perfect life may not be what she wants at all. In her warmest, wisest novel yet, Kristy Woodson Harvey delivers a discerning portrait of modern womanhood through two vastly different lenses. Feels Like Falling is a beach bag essential for Harvey fans—and for a new generation of readers.

I am so excited to announce my seventh novel, UNDER THE SOUTHERN SKY, which releases April 20, 2021. The official cover reveal is on Bookish by NetGalley TODAY! Click here to check it out–or see it right here tomorrow and find out how you can win an advance copy!
Recently separated Amelia Buxton, a dedicated journalist, never expected that uncovering the biggest story of her career would become deeply personal. But when she discovers that a cluster of embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned,” she’s put in the unenviable position of telling Parker—and dredging up old wounds in the process.
Parker has been unable to move forward since the loss of his beloved wife three years ago. He has all but forgotten about the frozen embryos, but once Amelia reveals her discovery, he knows that if he ever wants to get a part of Greer back, he’ll need to accept his fate as a single father and find a surrogate.
Each dealing with their own private griefs, Parker and Amelia slowly begin to find solace in one another as they navigate an uncertain future against the backdrop of the pristine waters of their childhood home, Buxton Beach. The journey of self-discovery leads them to an unforgettable and life-changing lesson: Family—the one you’re born into and the one you choose—is always closer than you think.
From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand, #1 New York Times bestselling author), Under the Southern Sky is a fresh and unforgettable exploration of love, friendship, and the unbreakable ties that bind.
Memorial Day week is officially here! And, yup, just like most things, it’s going to look a little different this year…But that doesn’t mean that we can’t still get out the hot dogs and baked beans and celebrate with our families. (Socially distanced and 10 at a time, of course!)
To get you in the celebrating spirit, check out ten of our favorite family rooms that are the perfect place to gather the ones you love most–even if it’s just for family movie night.
And if you can’t make it to the beach, at least you can look at it from the comfort of your family room. For indoor style, we don’t think it gets much better than these chic spaces. Which is your favorite?
“Feels Like Falling” by Kristy Woodson Harvey @kristywharvey was a definite 5⭐!!… This story has a dual POV, alternating between Gray and Diana. Gray just lost her mother to cancer! She is the CEO of her company and recently split from her husband who cheated on her. She goes to spend the summer at the North Carolina shore. Diana who loses her job at the pharmacy has just broke up with her boyfriend, moved out of their shared apartment and planning to just live in her car! Just so happens, Gray has a spare guest house and offers Diana to stay there. These 2 , very different women truly Bond and help each other through the hard times in their life. They learn so much about themselves, and what really matters in life! I loved both characters!! This story was sweet, dealing with love, loss, romance, motherhood, and life!! This truly was a perfect beach read. A very endearing, positive read.
Speaking of details… They are my favorite part of my books too. Creating a character, setting a scene… Those are the best parts of being an author. For more information about the setting of Feels Like Falling, my sixth novel, which releases April 28, check out this video!

People have a lot of preconceived notions about Texas, don’t you think? Maybe more than any other state.
it’s all about big hair and barbecue and trucks and hats and cowboy boots, all of which, trust us, we are highly amenable to.
But Jenkins Interiors, among others of our designer friends, has given us a new stereotype about Texas: The homes are incredible, in no small part, of course, to these fabulous designers.
This house lives up to one stereotype in that it is nothing short of luxe.
But a laid-back luxe, which is all the better.
If you ask us, this is a major (super chic!) improvement on the dank, dark, musty wine cellar. And those butterflies? Perfection!
Beauty is all in the details and this fume hood combined with that range and those barstools… It’s eye candy at its finest.
And a pink pot is the perfect touch!
Pops of color keep this home vibrant, down to earth, and totally livable.
We love the way the pinks, blues and golds are carried throughout the color scheme.
It adds such uniformity to a large space–even the closet! (The to-die-for closet!!)
No surprise here: The outside is as stunning as the inside. We don’t know about you, but we think Jenkins Interiors has outdone themselves in this Dallas home. And it rumors are to be believed, outdoing yourself over and over again is what Texas is all about.
Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of you day. We always love it when you stop by!

Good morning, readers! We hope your Tuesday is off to a great start! I’m heading to Birmingham this morning for some fun meetings for my next novel, The Southern Side of Paradise, and I couldn’t be more excited to visit one of my favorite cities. (Plus, I got hubby some of those awesome noise-cancelling headphones for Christmas and I might or might not have snuck them into my suitcase…)
I’m a bit of a homebody, (which is kind of ironic since I travel for weeks at a time now!) so it was sort of shocking to me when, on my first trip to Mountain Brook, my favorite Birmingham suburb, I decided that I could really move there and be as happy as a clam. That’s saying something!
Finding new places to love is probably the best part of book tour–and I found out a few years ago that I’m a big fan of our our biggest state: Texas!
I am so, so thrilled to be taking my very first trip to Dallas–home of the beyond fabulous designers of Jenkins Interiors– this May.
If the rest of Dallas is anything like their gorgeous work, I think I’m in for a treat!
When we think of Texas, we think of making a statement, of doing something just a little bit out of the ordinary in the best possible way.
We think these designers excel at that very thing,
There’s nothing like a little good taste to make a Tuesday better–and so much chicer! The gorgeous designs of Jenkins Interiors are a great place to start!
