10 Favorite Kitchens with a Marble Countertop

When it comes to kitchens, styles change. There are some we’re glad to see go — that means you, harvest gold and avocado green — and others we kind of wish would come back — designer white appliances perhaps? But when it comes to standing the test of time, linoleum, tile and even granite and quartz may come and go, but we think marble is one surface that stands the test of time.

Everyone warned me. I’ll admit it. I was told by everyone from the manufacturer to the installer that marble is not the most durable surface for a kitchen counter. But, when you get right down to it, some things in life are as much about aesthetics as they are about function.

So I did it anyway. And, it’s true. It gets etched. But what’s the point of having a beautiful kitchen if you can’t cook in it without being stressed?

We had it our marble sealed, which certainly helped, and, truth be told, there’s some etching and some scratching and if you look really closely, there’s a stain or two.

But, in some ways, that has made it even better,  It’s growing older with grace, and we feel pretty certain that its dancing days are far from over.

Things We Love: Subway Tile

As we all know, sometimes the simplest things can be the most beautiful.

One of our favorite, simple statement-makers? Subway tile, of course!

When we’re working on a renovation, so many things are pulling on our heartstrings–and our purse strings! When it comes to the kitchen, in particular, it’s easy to get a little overwhelmed–or more than a little over budget!

H2 Design + Build

Fortunately, subway tile is a way to keep both in check. Not only is it a stunning no-brainer for any space, but subway tile is also an affordable alternative to marble or other natural stones that might be fighting to be our backsplash choice. (Although we love them too!)

deVOL Kitchen

One of our most favorite subway tile tricks that makes it look not only unique but also much more expensive, it playing with the grout color. We’re huge fans of gray grout, especially in a kitchen like this where it highlights the color of the cabinets. Plus, it doesn’t get dirty! But white grout lends a gorgeous clean look. With subway tile, you really can’t go wrong!

Another perk to subway tile? It’s so easy to clean! Just spray and wipe with any old cleanser.

To a sensational sheen, we love subway tile any old way. Are you a subway tile fan? Or do you prefer a different kind of backsplash?
