10 Ultra-Chic Kitchen Cabinet Styles

kitchen cabinets
TS Adams Studio

Good morning, chic readers! We hope your Thursday is off to a great start! We’re pondering our favorite cabinet styles today. Few decisions in a kitchen are as major, as expensive or have as big of an impact, so it’s one of those ones that is important to get right!

Cloth and Kind - Beth Singer Photography

If you’re looking for something simply elegant without too much fuss for your kitchen cabinet remodel, flat paneled cabinets are a perfect choice.

One of our favorite kitchen styles is a combination of glass-front cabinets and closed cabinets. Glass front cabinets are perfect for display, but it’s nice to have a few to hide messier items behind as well!

Urban Grace Interiors

Sometimes our favorite cabinets are… no cabinets at all! We love open shelving as a chic and inexpensive alternative to upper cabinets. So cute!

Peter Pennoyer

You know we love white kitchens, so, to us, you can never go wrong with white cabinets.

But dark wood is also a stunning look that creates depth, warmth and contrast in a kitchen.

Old Seagrove Homes

Love the wood feel but want just a touch? Light wood is such a pretty choice, and these light wood open shelves give just a hint of wood without being too dark.

Coastal Living

Dark painted cabinets can make a kitchen feel dark and heavy, but, when paired with light floors, backsplash and tons of light, they’re such a perfect choice!

So, sure, we love white and wood, but there’s nothing like colored cabinets to add instant personality and fun in a kitchen. Especially in a vacation home, when you pick the right shade you really can’t go wrong!

Can’t make up your mind? We totally understand! Why not mix and match? It’s the best of both worlds and gives any kitchen a totally custom feel.

If you were redoing your kitchen. what cabinet style would you choose?

Creating a Dream Home–Down to the Last Detail

What do you think of when you hear the term “dream home?”

For us, so many different things come to mind.

We could dream of a tiny farm cottage with a picket fence and trailing ivy…

Or a sprawling country estate with horses and plenty of room for beautiful gardens

A quaint ski chalet…

Or a cedar shake New England home with plenty of room for visiting guests.

For us, a dream home could be anything, really, where we are surrounded by things we love–and people we love, of course.

No matter how you define “dream home,” we feel pretty sure that this qualifies as one.

The Fox Group.  has created an enviable space with so many stunning details it would be impossible to pick a favorite–

And we would could look at these photos a thousand times and still find something new to delight and inspire.

From open shelving on a very luxe level,

To extraordinary hardware,

Marble as far as the eye can see,

To a workspace for everyone in the family,

Each perfectly orchestrated area of this family house makes it feel like home.

We think it would be nearly impossible to pick a favorite room, a favorite detail. But if we had to, we think the bathroom in this dream home might take the cake!

What is your idea of a dream home? Is is luxurious, modern and spacious like this or something a little simpler? We’d love to know!

We hope you had an amazing weekend and are so grateful that you stopped by Design Chic to spend a bit of your Monday with us. We always love it when you do!

I had the most amazing  day of meetings with the team at Gallery Books (Simon & Schuster),  about all that is THE SECRET TO SOUTHERN CHARM, the sequel to SLIGHTLY SOUTH OF SIMPLE and the second book in Peachtree Bluff series–and filmed fun videos that I can’t wait to share with you! House Tour: Peter Pennoyer

We don’t know about you, but we love a cedar shake house. We’re pretty much convinced that you could slap cedar shakes on the ugliest cinderblock building in the world and instantly make it charming.

Peter Pennoyer shingled house

On the flip side, we think everything that Peter Pennoyer designs is so gorgeous that it would be charming even if it were built out of cinderblock.

Fortunately for us, this home is cedar shake and designed by the peerless Peter Pennoyer. It’s a pretty unbeatable combination!

Just peeking inside this lovely home feels restful. We’re instantly transported to a seaside escape made for relaxation and spending long, lazy days recharging and taking a break from the fast pace of the rest of the world.

This beautiful bay window is perfect for taking advantage of every inch of view while still feeling completely traditional and totally lovely.

This dining room proves that architectural details don’t have to be ornate to feel luxurious. The simplicity of the woodwork and built-ins in this room is in keeping with the more casual tone of the house while still making it feel perfectly planned down to the last inch.

From the stylish built-ins to the heavy custom doors, the architectural details in this home give it the feeling of total quality. Antique accents lend that collected feeling to this newer home.

A modern range hood and an antique-feeling island lend a lovely juxtaposition to this large yet cozy kitchen.

There is nothing like a Dutch door to add that homey feeling to a space.

Open shelving and a gardening sink keep clutter out of the kitchen–and ensure that fresh blooms abound all year long.

If we could choose one thing that our homes absolutely have to have, it’s light! These intricate windows add that in high style.

There’s no better accent in a master that feels like a sanctuary than a cozy reading nook. It’s the perfect place for coffee and PJs!

For the ultimate in inspiration, this is the ultimate office! No clutter, just a fabulous view.

We love a garden seat in the bathroom! It’s the perfect spot for storing bath essentials.

A fun, eclectic bar area is perfect for entertaining!

But, if you’re like us, you’d agree that there’s no place like the perfect porch for savoring a beautiful beach day.

We hope you have a fabulous day!

What People are Saying About Slightly South of Simple:

“My prediction is that writers come and writers go, but Kristy Woodson Harvey is here to stay. The warmth, wit, and wisdom of this novel pave her way into the exclusive sisterhood of southern writers.” (—The Huffington Post)
