We didn’t think the Blue Ridge mountains could get any more gorgeous, but it has happened. Atlanta architect D. Stanley Dixon and interior designer Heather Dewberry have made even more magic in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. We know. We’re really excited too! From the wood elements to the color palette it’s utter perfection at every turn. We hope you enjoy as much as we do!

My latest novel, THE SECRET TO SOUTHERN CHARM, releases on April 3, right in the thick of Spring Break! And, Southern Living just named it one of its “Best Spring Break Reads.” Hooray! Now is the perfect time to preorder!
Happy Thursday, chic readers! We hope your day is off to a fabulous start. We are talking fences today.
When we bought our house in Beaufort, one of the first things we knew we would have to do is put a white picket fence around the yard.
There’s just something about a fence that not only defines a space but also adds so much charm.
In stacked stone, a fence is organic, neutral and blends in so well with the environment.
A chic stucco fence or a concrete fence is not only pretty but is also practical. Insect resistant and easy to clean, it’s a perfect, long-lasting solution for a beautiful outdoor space that stays that way for years to come. And a lovely vine is the perfect accessory!
For that English cottage or secret garden feel, nothing beats stone–with a charming gate, of course.
And a pretty wall creates a cozy outdoor sitting room and breaks up a large back yard.
There’s nothing more beautiful than a rambling wooden fence through a farm or estate.
For creating privacy and only seeing the neighbors when you want to see the neighbors, there is nothing prettier than a hedge. It may take a while to get it right, but the result is so worth it!
Doesn’t a tall hedge create the most ethereal feeling?
And, of course, you can never go wrong with brick. Do you have a fence at your house? What’s your favorite fence or wall material?
Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day!

Good morning, chic readers! We hope your Wednesday is off to a terrific start. We are so excited to tour this gorgeous Wicker Park house by Wendy Labrum Interiors. From the stunning color palette to the well-placed accessories, every element is perfection.
This gorgeous back porch looks like the perfect spot for relaxing this Wednesday night. We hope you have a wonderful one!
We always start January full of intentions for how incredibly clean and neat and organized we’re going to keep our houses. And it always starts out great.
But, like a six-times-a-week gym habit, sometimes the constant cleaning up after everyone just leaves us tired.
And you just want to leave your shoes on the floor and not hang up your pants and leave dishes “soaking” in the sink. (Well, I do. Mom would never ever do any of the above things, so she doesn’t have to make house-related resolutions!)
If your enthusiasm is waning a bit as we round the February corner, don’t worry!
These light, bright, clutter-free and perfectly organized homes from Erin Paige Pitts are drool-worthy enough to make you want to hop right back on those resolutions.
Because we spend so much time designing them, planning and plotting them, making sure they are perfect…
It would be a shame to sully that gorgeous marble island with that stack of mail that you didn’t quite have time to get to this afternoon. (At least, that’s what I keep reminding myself!)
Clutter-free spaces are the most calming, after all, so if one of your resolutions was to chill out, then making up your bed in the morning as soon as you get out of it may be a good start.
And Peter Walsh’s Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight, says that you can lose ten pounds in six weeks by cleaning up. So skip the elliptical today, organize your shoe closet and take a bath. Killing lots of resolution birds with one stone!
We’ve always said that living your best life begins at home…
And the good taste of Erin Paige Pitts, certainly makes that easier than ever!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, chic readers. We always love seeing you here!
When it gets a little cooler, like it is now, that’s when we start to imagine ourselves in a cozy hunting lodge by the lake. Bonfires, oyster roasts and s’mores dance through our heads–and, of course, an interior with lots and lots of wood. We are loving this gorgeous example of a hunting cabin–and we think you will too!
Wishing you a wonderful Monday!
Congrats to our wonderful friend and fellow blogger, Shirley from Housepitality Designs. She won the Arhaus pillows and $200 gift card!
