If you’re like us, you are absolutely convinced that art can make a room, can be the perfect starting point, focal point or finishing touch. For us, Caroline Cromer’s work was love at first sight. Everything she paints is fabulous, but we are totally taken with these abstract faces. Take a peek for yourself!
We recently received a question about our favorite ways to decorate above the sofa–and we jumped at the chance to find some fabulous examples of ways to do just that.
Then again… a bolder statement works so well. And, in this case, bigger isn’t necessarily better. With the balance of the lamps, the proportions work perfectly.
One of my favorite pieces in my house is a framed map from our honeymoon to the British Virgin Islands, complete with notes and pen marks. This map gives a similar vibe–and anything that evokes a happy memory is a bonus.
With so many options, it’s hard to choose how to decorate over a sofa! What’s your favorite look?
Thanks so much for stopping by Design Chic today. We love seeing you here! And don’t hesitate to send us your burning design questions at [email protected]
I had the best week in New York doing the final meetings for my next book, Feels Like Falling and then at the Savannah Book Fest! And I got to make my NYC TV debut at NY Live–and feature some of my favorite products. It was so much fun!
If you’re a long-time reader of Design Chic, you probably know that we don’t like to play favorites. But sometimes… Well, sometimes we just can’t help it!
Lucy Williams is one of those people who you simply can’t help but look at with wonder.
An incredible designer whose moodboards even inspire awe,
Who can mix patterns and textures with ease to create a totally customized look,
And who is a genuinely kind, supportive friend, and incredible blogger to boot, she is a one of our go-tos for inspiration in every sense of the word.
We’re especially loving her incredible work at the Ronald McDonald House! (See what we mean?)
Oh–and did we mention she’s one of our favorite artists? If you’re in the Richmond area (Or if you aren’t, make a trip!) be sure to go meet our friend Lucy on October 4 from 6-8pm at Palette Paint & Home in Richmond, Va. More than 40 paintings will be on display. Don’t miss it!
In the meantime, check out a few of these gorgeous examples of her stunning artwork!

Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We always love seeing you here!
