Good morning, chic readers! Do you spend as much time in your kitchen as we do? It isn’t just the cooking. It seems to always be the place that homework is done and, no matter what we plan, where friends gather. (Maybe because it’s where the wine lives?? We’re not sure.)
We are people who simply need lots of sunshine. So the gorgeous skylights in this beautiful open kitchen would suit us just perfectly. That range… Those floors… We can’t possibly pick a favorite element of this stunning space!
Amber Interiors creates the perfect kitchen for every home–and has us teeming with inspiration for our own kitchens! Do you have any spruces in mind for the heart of your home?
Thank you so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We love it when you stop by!
Looking for a good book to carry you into fall? I’d love it if you checked out one of mine: Dear Carolina, Lies and Other Acts of Love, The Peachtree Bluff Series (Slightly South of Simple, The Secret to Southern Charm, The Southern Side of Paradise) or Feels Like Falling. And I’m so excited that my seventh novel, Under the Southern Sky, will be releasing April 20, 2021 and is available for preorder now. The cover will be revealed September 23, so mark your calendar!
And three small children have perhaps the one thing that Manhattan living can’t provide: plenty of room to run and play.
Oozing with country charm and classic style, this impeccably restored home is the perfect place to spend a weekend, a summer, or, possibly, forever. Whether you’re on a getaway or right at home, we hope you find some time to unplug with the people that mean the most to you this week.
Thanks so much, as always, for making Design Chic a part of your day. We love seeing you here!

Here’s What’s Next from the Murphy Women:
From internationally bestselling author and “rising star of Southern fiction” (Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling author) Kristy Woodson Harvey comes the third novel in her Peachtree Bluff series, in which a secret threatens the tight-knit bond between a trio of sisters and their mother.
With the man of her dreams back in her life and all three of her daughters happy, Ansley Murphy should be content. But she can’t help but feel like it’s all a little too good to be true.
Meanwhile, youngest daughter and actress Emerson, who is recently engaged and has just landed the role of a lifetime, seemingly has the world by the tail. Only, something she can’t quite put her finger on is worrying her—and it has nothing to do with her recent health scare.
When two new women arrive in Peachtree Bluff—one who has the potential to wreck Ansley’s happiness and one who could tear Emerson’s world apart—everything is put in perspective. And after secrets that were never meant to be told come to light, the powerful bond between the Murphy sisters and their mother comes crumbling down, testing their devotion to each other and forcing them to evaluate the meaning of family.
With Kristy Woodson Harvey’s signature charm, wit, and heart, The Southern Side of Paradise is another masterful Peachtree Bluff novel that proves she is a “Southern writer with staying power” (Booklist).
We talk a lot on Design Chic about combining the old with the new. Grandmother’s silver on your Saarinen table, fun buffet lamps on an antique buffet, a new, shiny bar cart filled with Grandfather’s decanters. There are so many fantastic ways to incorporate the old with the new on the inside. But, on the outside? It’s harder to pull off. Perhaps that’s why we’re so enchanted with Kevin and Lee Kleinhelter’s gorgeous Atlanta home. (We’ve talked about Lee’s Good Taste before.) It’s streamlined and modern but still feels familiar.
And, inside, it gets even better.
We literally love every inch. Take a peek for yourself!
And these barstools? What a find! We can sort of picture how excited Lee must have been when she found these!
That chandelier? Do we even have to say it? Delicate, whimsical… It’s perfect!
One of our favorite things about this house is that it doesn’t “have to” anything. It doesn’t have to feel Hollywood Regency in the kitchen and then carry that through the rest of the house. It exudes the feeling that it was filled with pieces out of true love, not obligation.
We bet every kid in town wants to sleep over in these bunks.
The orange is so good. And not too matchy or contrived.
All that glitters… You know the rest.
We want to have the guts to paint a room black. We really do. But when it’s presented as painting a room black and gold… Well, now we’re thinking we could do it!
The floor is utter brilliance. No one needs to talk us into that!
Coolest ping pong table ever. We want this. And one of those lucite foosball tables. And maybe that sheep. And the painting. We could go on like this for awhile…
Awwww! Why stop now? We want that dog too! What a gorgeous color! So simple. So chic. We mean the room. But the dog too.
Swooning.
On the verge of needing to call the paramedics.
Yellow=love. We are OBSESSED with yellow right now.
Dear Lee Kleinfelter, we know we don’t really know each other, but we’d like to move into this yellow room, please. Or any of the rest of the rooms in this house.
This bathroom feels modern and fresh. But somehow familiar too, right? We think that’s what creating a home is all about!

As the year comes to an end and the holidays begin, our kitchens begin to take center stage. The heart of home is certainly a vital part of our festivities and day-to-day lives all year round, but never do we realize their importance as much as when we’re cooking those Christmas meals. For inspiration on how to live well in your kitchen, from now all the way into the New Year, take a page from Karr Bick Kitchen & Bath.
Wishing you a wonderful day with a bit of time to relax and enjoy this beautiful season!
Good morning, sweet readers! It is a beautiful, glorious day for a house tour. Speaking of, the Beaufort house is getting ready to be on tour! We always think that parties are a great thing because they make us get things done, finish up little projects, deep clean the pantry… Everything, really.
