Good morning, chic readers! We hope your Monday is off to a great start and that you are poised and ready to tackle this week. We are so excited to share a few of our all-time favorite living rooms–and a few of the features that we think most great living rooms have in common. So take a few minutes, refill your coffee, and reset your mind with these stunning rooms that can’t help but inspire you to a more productive (and comfortable!) day.
3. Statement art. Speaking of never disappointing, Andrew Howard certainly doesn’t. His room are always chic, never cookie cutter, and, oh yeah, include truly gorgeous art.
7. A little symmetry. Everything doesn’t have to match all the time, but, we have to say, symmetry sure is pleasing to our eyes. This Beth Webb beauty is symmetry at its finest.
8. Loads of personality. Because, at the end of the day, your living room is all about you and your family. From the museum-worthy to the party-ready, Marshall Watson lends every space personality in droves.
This is a living room we wouldn’t mind visiting today. But, for now, we’re going to get back to work and dream about these gorgeous living rooms… What are your living room non-negotiables?
Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of you day. We always love it when you stop by!

The Secret to Southern Charm has officially out in the world. You can pick up your copy at your local bookstore, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Target or online at Amazon or any of your other favorite retailers. In the meantime, we wanted you to explore the home of my interior designer main character, Ansley Murphy, and get a little better feel for her aesthetic.
We picture Ansley’s aesthetic to be light, bright, streamlined and coastally chic.
In the historic, fictional town of Peachtree Bluff, Georgia, Ansley designs not only the yachts coming in and out of the harbor, but also the historic homes that line the picturesque downtown.
When Ansley’s three daughters come home–grandchildren in tow–that can only mean one thing: lots of family dinners! This is just the type of comfortable yet chic dining room that Ansley would love.
In her own home and in her redesigns, Ansley’s aesthetic is very natural with well-chosen pops of pretty colors. This green and yellow is absolutely lovely.
Wide-plank hardwood floors and windows that let in plenty of light are hallmarks of some of Ansley’s prettiest redesigns.
Of course, with all of those kids home, Ansley’s bedrooms are getting quite a bit of use! We picture this as the perfect master retreat where Ansley can get away from it all…
And a sweet blue color palette is perfect for soothing Sloane’s nerves while her husband is deployed.
A chic–and a touch Bohemian–canopy bed would suit Emerson, the youngest, actress daughter’s personality to a tee. We love the mix of antique and new!
But the best part of Ansley’s house? This gorgeous, waterfront porch, of course, where she can sit with her daughters and her mother and sort through all the big decisions they are making over the year that will change their lives–and their family–forever.
We want to thank you for being such loyal readers of Design Chic and hope that you will take the time to read The Secret to Southern Charm. It’s perfect for lounging beach- or poolside or a gift for Mother’s Day, graduation, wedding guests or bridesmaids!
