The Huffington Post said of Slightly South: “Writers come and writers go, but Kristy Woodson Harvey is here to stay. The warmth, wit, and wisdom of this novel pave her way into the exclusive sisterhood of southern writers.” I’d love it if you checked it out!
When we redid our master bath in our Beaufort, NC house a huge, cast-iron soaking tub was the first thing we chose.
The carpenters joked that if there was a natural disaster we should stand on the first floor under the tub because the floor had been reinforced so heavily.
Although it’s not so much of a joke now because, in the wake of Hurricane Florence, we learned what can happen when you build a beautiful wooden enclosure around a cast-iron tub surrounded by windows. And the windows leak. Let’s just say ew.
We weren’t planning on a major house renovation just five years after the first one, but you can’t predict the weather, as they say.
And master bathroom, take two, is going to have a more breathable bathing solution, so we don’t find ourselves in this mess again.
Luckily, freestanding tubs are another favorite of ours. And, after all, the floor’s already reinforced , now we just have to choose the right one!
Good morning, chic readers! We hope you are having a great day. With Fourth of July right around the corner, it’s time for sandy feel, pool time and plenty of guests. All we know is that our showers are getting ready to work over time!
We do some of our best thinking in the shower. We don’t know if it’s the warm water or the quiet or the lack of multi-tasking but we always get the best ideas in there. But that’s just the beginning.
The shower is one of those places where function is really important. But when it can be this beautiful too, then the shower can quickly become a favorite spot in the house! Isn’t this shower door amazing?
A rain shower head is so calming and perfect for refreshing skin after a long day of fun in the sun. It can turn a simple shower into a spa-like experience! And who couldn’t use more of that?
Handheld shower heads are our new go-to, simply because they make cleaning the shower and bathtub an absolute breeze. With showers getting bigger and tilework more intricate, an easier clean is a must! Nothing makes it easier to reach those far-off shower corners where grime can accumulate.
This rustic bathroom ceiling juxtaposes beautifully with the marble tile to create a one-of-a-kind experience that is utterly chic.
From simple tile to luxurious marble, there’s the right shower for any decor and feel. And a garden seat is one of our favorite spots for stacking towels.
We love the chair in here and the extra storage under the sinks and basket for putting spare towels is a bonus! There never seem to be enough towels!
Marble tile in a herringbone pattern makes the shower fun and a little bit different, while a soaking tub is perfect for unwinding after a long day.
We used a simple subway tile in Little Will’s shower with a soft gray grout and love it! The color makes it easier to clean and in an old house it’s simple yet functional. The stool is his new favorite thing. Not only is it useful, but the teak is also beautiful and water resistant, which is a must in a bathroom.
But there’s no reason to stick to just one material. Mixing and matching for a totally custom look is so much fun.
With so many beautiful choices, it’s hard to pick a favorite. All we need now is one of those waterproof shower pads for writing down all our great ideas!
Thank you so much for stopping by Design Chic. We always love it when you do. Happy Monday!
