Things We Love: Touches of Spring

Good morning, chic readers! Another week of social distancing and basically not leaving the house has us concentrating on all the little touches we can add for spring.

If you’ve been a Design Chic follower for a while, you know how much we depend on light fixtures to change the look of a room. This one is too good to be true!

Exhibit B. Now, this is how you do a lantern right!

This sunroom is storybook charming. We love every element!

A new nightstand can totally jazz up a bedroom. We love a pair, but it really isn’t a requirement! A mismatched set can be eclectic and cool.

And you know that really great feeling you get when you have a fresh, clean set of sheets to crawl between? Imagine when you have an entire fresh, clean set of bedding!

Isn’t it amazing what just a tiny tick of red can do? So fun!

We can’t think of anywhere we’d rather be than in this boat.

Well, maybe other than on the beach where that adorable chair and umbrella ended up!

Gingham touches, fabulous outdoor furniture and the most amazing coffee table add up to a truly enviable outdoor space.

And hanging chairs make it even better! They are one of our most favorite design elements.

During these times when the great outdoors are bringing us so much solace, they really do deserve to be celebrated.

And these outdoor spaces do just that in high style, from main pieces to finishing touches. Are you planning on making any changes to your home or porch for spring?

Ready for a new spring read to enjoy on your fresh made-over porch? Check out Feels Like Falling, the book Mary Kay Andrews called, “Your next summer sizzler!” Preorder now to avoid shipping delays. Official release date April 28, 2020.

House Tour: Spring Break in Palm Beach

Another day, another Spring Break trip we aren’t on… But super talented architect Mark Finlay is solving that for us!!

Nothing–and we do mean nothing–says “Spring Break” quite like yellow-and-white stripes by a pool. It’s quintessential Spring Break chic and we are here for it!!

See? Isn’t it the best?

We have to say, though, we’d be pretty happy to spend Spring Break inside this gorgeous Palm Beach home too.

Cooking in this chic, built-in kitchen

Dining with our family in style,

Crossing the hall after dinner…

For an aperitif in the library

And, of course, curling up in bed after a long day shopping. Or on the beach. Either way. It’s your Spring Break. You choose!

But we all know that Spring Break is better when we share it with friends,

Which is what makes this pair of twin bedrooms so incredibly appropriate. We’re pretty sure this house is Palm Beach perfection. And we’re so happy we got to visit it with you today!

Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We love seeing you here!

In other news… Feels Like Falling releases in three, short weeks! If you haven’t preordered, please be aware that shipping times might be slightly delayed, so preordering now gives you a great shot of getting your copy on pub day, April 28!!

Also, my author friends, Mary Kay Andrews, Mary Alice Monroe, Patti Callahan Henry and Kristin Harmel and I are joining forces to bring you Friends and Fiction! We’ll be airing live on Mary Kay Andrews’ Facebook page next Wednesday, April 15 at 7 pm. We’ll be broadcasting every Wednesday from now until… Well, let’s just say, a while! Come join us. We’re going to have a blast!

House Tour: Alys Beach Retreat

Home of Interior Philosophy Co-Owner

Even though it may not officially be fall yet, Labor Day always feels like the end of summer–to us, anyway.

We are always sad for the end of summer, with its carefree beach days and long, lazy boat hours. Of course, fall has plenty of its own charms–football season, boots, pumpkin spice lattes… (In case you haven’t heard, they’re back!!)

Even still, we’re already dreaming of Spring Break!

For this year’s late April Spring Break, we think the weather–and the beauty–of Alys Beach will do quite nicely.

To facilitate our Spring Break dreaming we wanted to take a look around this fabulous Alys Beach home.

The think we love most about this 30A enclave–besides its pristine white sand beaches and clear blue water, of course–is its soothing, uniform palette.

This beautiful home builds on the exquisite creams and browns and neutrals of the chic beach town’s exterior, making the entire thing feel cohesive.

Unexpected accessories lend a touch of the exotic and a bit of the British Colonial to the home’s overall feel.

Every room–even the bathroom–is set up to take advantage of the breathtaking view that lies beyond.

And despite this home’s upscale elegance, nothing feels too precious.

It’s the kind of place where sandy feet can tread and memories can grow.

It will still be weeks before we pack up our bathing suits for the winter and pull out the boots, months before the winter doldrums have time to cast their shadow and sink in.

All the while, we’ll feel happy and light knowing that another April, another Spring Break, and the promise of the sunny skies and stunning landscape of Alys Beach are just around the corner!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, friends! We always love it when you do!
