In Good Taste: Studio McGee

What do you do when you have “a spare bedroom with lots of big ideas and no room for fabric samples?”

If you’re Shea McGee, you start a design firm!

After graduating with a degree in PR, Shea decided that she was passionate about interiors. Little did she know that, a few semesters into chasing her dream, she would have a huge waitlist of clients.

Shea enlisted her husband Syd and, together, they created Studio McGee, a design firm that has grown to more than 30 team members and manages projects nationwide.

With the team’s bright, airy and slightly organic aesthetic, it’s easy to see why Studio McGee has become one of the most well-known design firms in the U.S.

The studio’s work has been featured in magazines including Vogue Living, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor and House Beautiful, among others.

Shea turned her vision for a side-project for a stay-at-home mom into something much larger–and it’s safe to say that her clients have benefitted from the leap of faith that Shea and Syd took in that guest bedroom.

With the perfect laid-back luxe vibe, we can’t possibly pick a favorite space!

We can’t what to see what the Studio McGee team creates next!

And as the days get shorter and temperatures begin to drop, we’re also so incredibly grateful for our homes, for cozy spaces where we can gather–and, of course, we start thinking about how we can make them better!

One of our favorite things about these gorgeous cable wires is how much visual space they create, making the stairway feel open and airy.

Cable railings add a decidedly modern feeling to a space, indoors or out.

When combined with wood, they can also feel organic and even a bit rustic and earthy.

Whether it’s a fabulous light fixture, a gorgeous water view or a perfectly manicured lawn, these open-concept railings allow you to take advantage of every square inch of beautiful view.
