This is the ultimate spot for winter skiing, an aprés ski celebration,
And waking up the next morning to admire the view–and do it all over again!
A beautiful blend of textures, tones and colors gives this house a uniform and unique look,
While unique furnishings and architectural details create a strong sense of place.
We have winter and skiing and fires and cocoa on the brain, but this is definitely the type of place that’s perfect for all four seasons.
Thank you so much for stopping by Design Chic today. We always love seeing you here!
Don’t forget: Southern Living will be revealing the first peek at the cover for my new novel, THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF PARADISE, this Thursday at 12 pm.

Good morning, chic friends! We hope your week is off to a great start! We’re just getting home from a fabulous trip to Sea Island, GA. (If you didn’t get a chance to check out the amazing Sea Island house we featured yesterday, don’t miss it!)
The weather was perfect, the house we stayed in was beyond and my The Secret to Southern Charm talk and signing in the spectacular Club Room of the Cloister was honestly one of my favorite events to date, which is really saying something!
Speaking of fabulous houses, Haver & Scolnick Architects know a thing or two about creating them. One peek at the architectural details in this chic butler’s pantry and it’s evident that everything else is going to follow suit.
The kitchen is certainly the heart of the home, and this one is so warm and cozy that we can’t think of a better place to gather family and friends for a delicious meal and a good chat.
These architects absolutely know how to set the tone of a space. Rustic beams add an old world charm and feel.
This is organization at its absolute finest. Chic storage is always welcome–and welcoming!
A dedicated gardening space is one of our dream rooms. These architects make it a reality!
As fabulous as the indoor spaces are, the outdoor spaces are even better. But aren’t they always?
Charm. That’s the word that comes to mind when considering this fabulous Atlanta home designed by the talented Meridy King. Incredible architectural details, eclectic style and a landscape plan to write home create a beautiful oasis amidst the city life.
The perfect mix of antique and modern, this is the kind of office that is full of inspiration–and perfect for meeting clients!
A round dining table is one of our favorite things. Especially in a square dining room, it is so chic and allows for conversation in a way that other shapes simply don’t.
Rustic touches are always welcome.
This room proves that you don’t have to pick a “style.” Traditional, laid-back furnishings pair perfectly with modern art and a rustic fireplace.
And, of course, accessories always put something great over the top!
It’s amazing how simple architectural details can add so much charm.
The outdoor living spaces perfectly mirror the interior of this fabulous home.
In the outdoors, as with interiors, it’s all about the little things! The details make this space so chic.
Just, wow. This is a photo made for Pinterest! And wonderful conversation with someone you love.
Lush and well planned yet totally unfussy, this is the kind of landscape architecture dreams are made of! Do you see those tiny stone steps into the water? Swooning! The dog looks almost as if he was planted there to perfect the scene!
Thanks so much to all of you for making Design Chic a part of your day. We love it when you stop by!
More than just a place to park your car, a garage — when done right — is an integral part of the home.
We’re still in the planning stages of our addition, and a gorgeous garage is on the top of our list for things we need — and inspired this post! Remember, when doing your own addition, it’s always a good idea to compare prices.
Keeping our cars out of the salt air is great, sure. But, when it comes to garages,
we love the idea of creating extra space for guests.
A charming suite up top complete with bedroom, bathroom and kitchen gives guests privacy while still letting them be a part of the fun.
Extra room for guests or no, isn’t it nice when a garage is a seamless part of the home, not an afterthought? This one is particularly well done, we think.
Detached garages can add charm — and work well when they are added later,
but there’s nothing better when it’s raining outside and you have a car full of kids, groceries, etc. than to be able to slide right in your door without getting a drop on you!
When it comes to garages, it’s all about the garage doors isn’t it? We love the charm of these carriage doors
This garage is simply stunning.
Does it get any better than this? We don’t think so! Thanks so much for stopping by and making Design Chic a part of your day. We always love seeing you here!

We have just returned from a little warm weather getaway before the launch of Lies and Other Acts of Love and are already missing the warmth and beauty of the area.
