Here’s something you might not know about us: We bleed blue. Not cobalt blue or turquoise or aqua, but that particular beautiful baby blue of Carolina skies, of our alma mater, the University of North Carolina.
There is so much to love about Chapel Hill: the Old Well, the Bell Tower, Franklin Street, and now this stunning home. When the amazing, talented, (super funny) Andrew J. Howard designed one of the gorgeous homes in Chapel Hill, NC, home of the Tar Heels and at least half of our hearts, we couldn’t wait to share it with you!
And, let us tell you, his work, as usual, doesn’t disappoint.
Fun and whimsical touches–like this bold wallpaper–make a show stopping statement that breathes new life into this historic home,
While original features like beautiful moldings, fireplaces and floors, are accentuated, applauded and never overlooked.
One of our most favorite things about Howard’s signature style is that he has an amazingly firm grasp of color–and he isn’t afraid to use it. From deep blues,
To sunny, happy yellows, a mix of tones and hues create a home that is historic but never, ever stuffy.
There it is, our favorite blue! It isn’t a Chapel Hill home without a bit of Carolina blue, after all.
Forget nooks. Howard creates moments, unforgettable spots for savoring life’s little pleasures–
And takes full advantage of every available space–and makes it fabulous!
One of our favorite towns… One of our favorite designers… We knew it would be a match made in heaven! (The southern part of heaven, that is.) We’re off to Pin these to our “favorites” board. How about you?
Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We always love it when you stop by!
There might not be anyone in the world who loves her hometown quite as much as I do. All the amazing people of Salisbury, NC were so supportive and encouraging when I was growing up and continue to be so now. I am so proud and honored that my books, THE SECRET TO SOUTHERN CHARM and SLIGHTLY SOUTH OF SIMPLE, were #1 and #3 on Rowan County’s 2018 BESTSELLER LIST. Thank you, thank you to Wendy Persse and everyone at South Main Book Company for handselling my stories all year long—and to all the readers everywhere who allow me to keep doing what I love year after year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Salisbury and Rowan County! There really is no place like home!
