In Good Taste: Hollander Landscape Architects

We all know that interiors are crucial.

But, if the outside and landscape don’t match the insides, some of that prime beautiful space feels so wasted!

Crushed Pebble Paths

Patrick Ahearn
We know it has been four million years since we’ve done an update on the Beaufort house renovation. But that’s because we’ve been waiting four million years to snap those long-awaited “after” pictures. If you can possibly believe it, this project, now fifteen months in, still isn’t finished. One day!!

Anyway, with the inside on its way, we’re turning our attention to the backyard, which is in need of some MAJOR love.
Arne Maynard Garden
We’re a little more space challenged back there than these beautiful settings, but, even in a tight space like ours, we love the look of these crushed pebbles.

There’s something so satisfying about the crunch of little pebbles underfoot.

Doesn’t this look like the kind of quiet, shady spot perfect for meditating? I mean, theoretically. We’ve yet to conquer the act of sitting quietly, but, one day, it’s going to happen… Probably in a space like this!

Crushed pebble is a perfect backdrop for outdoor dining… Made even better by a fantastic umbrella for shading the rays.

Crushed pebble is the ultimate material for garden paths. A garden like this is so charming — we love the watering cans tucked in the corner!
Dustjacket Attic
A pair of great urns adds such depth and character to a backyard. We found some great antique ones for Beaufort, and, after a couple of cans of Rustoleum, they’re ready to go again!
Cococozy
Pebbles are great for mixing with other materials — like this concrete. What a way to say “welcome!”

Do you like crushed pebble paths?
We’re so excited because we’re heading to NYC at the end of the week for a much-needed girls’ trip! We can’t wait to attend this event for Howard Slatkin’s gorgeous book, Fifth Avenue Style. Is anyone else going? We’d love to hang out! (I mean, in real life. We sort of hang out every day already… !)
We hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Thanks for making time for us in your Monday!
