House Tour: Ali Cayne’s Townhouse

Ali Cayne’s Townhouse

We’ve always thought that getting to live within the hustle, bustle and everything-at-your-fingertips of the City meant giving up something else — plenty of room for your kids, outdoor space, a place for your own garden.

But Ali Cayne’s downtown townhouse, envisioned, designed and implemented totally by her, proves that, when it comes to living in Manhattan, you can have it all.

Going Gray

La Maison Gray
It’s not just about aging gracefully…

                                                                           crazy for cars

We think going gray is the best thing since basic black.
Classy in the City
It’s no wonder that gray is a close cousin of the interminably chic silver.
this is glamorous

Everything’s better when you go gray.
We aren’t promising not to color our hair when the day comes, but in regard to aging, accessorizing and everything in between, we couldn’t agree more…
Wishing you a weekend full of favorable wind!

House Tour: Shelter Island Beach House

When we think of the beach, we think of simple. Clean, fresh decor that’s neither fussy nor overdone, where minds can de-clutter.
We don’t know about you, but our minds are at their uncluttered best when our homes are streamlined as well. As such, we think we might want to move to this Shelter Island house!
We’re feeling more relaxed just looking at it!
There’s something about slipcovers that make our worries drift out the open, salty-breeze filled doors. Maybe it’s the slouchy look, maybe it’s the ability to remove stains… Whatever.
Every element of this kitchen is classic and serene. It’s the kind of place that will look beautiful for years to come.
What’s better than a chalkboard with a grocery list? A chalkboard with NO grocery list!
Who needs Ambien when your room is so fabulously serene. This bookcase proves that there’s no need to fill every nook with stuff. Plus, who has time to dust when the water is right outside?
We love how the soothing color palette was maintained in this adorable bedroom, yet fun abounds!
These are the perfect handles for adding a touch of interest without feeling overpowering. We love the whales — this is the ultimate gender-neutral bedding.
We feel like this stairway is a summation of the house. Beachy, vacation perfection.
Even the dog feels like he has just finished meditating.
Wishing you a Wednesday as peaceful as this view!

Things We Love: Concrete Sinks

Joseph Dirand Architect

Abaton Architecture
It doesn’t sound altogether glamorous, does it?

Generally reserved for driveways and sidewalks, we don’t think of it as something that could be fabulous indoors.

Taverne Agency
But we are loving the look of concrete sinks.

A cast concrete basin is chicly modern without being too sparse.

Stellan Herner Photography
The imperfect finish of a concrete sink gives a look of age while still being interesting.

m.elle design
A concrete sink pairs beautifully with wood for a rustic, outdoorsy feel.

Some are super smooth, but we think we prefer the texture of this more unfinished concrete.

Skona Hem
One of our favorite things about concrete sinks is their fabulous range of earth tones.
Carrie Shuller
From tans to grays to shades of white, finding the perfect color is easy.
Cote Sud
And, while we love a down-to-earth look, a concrete sink can be the ideal piece in a more glamorous bath as well.
A concrete sink is great against any wall, but we like it most against four walls of concrete. The feeling is streamlined, simple, sublime…
What’s better than a concrete sink? A concrete farmhouse sink. What a fabulous look!
Would you use a concrete sink in your home?
