View From the Top

Giraffe Manor, Nairobi
We’ve always thought looking out the window to a beautiful ocean scene is an absolute dream. But looking out your window and seeing giraffes? That is quite possibly one of the coolest views we can imagine.

Spectacular Saturday Steal: Jacquard White Vase

Flowers, flowers and more flowers — there’s nothing we love more. So we’re always looking for beautiful — or, in this case, slightly whimsical — ways to display them. We absolutely love this Jacquard White Vase by Dansk, available from Lenox. It was a steal at $57.00, but, right now, on sale for $12.00, there is literally no way you can’t buy it! Plus, I have a Lenox outlet in my town, so I just went and bought one of these beauties, and the quality is fantastic!

While you’re at it, pick up a pair of these adorable Jacquard White Bud Vases by Dansk. They’re $9 for the pair. Seriously. We aren’t making this up.

Now, you know we are obsessed with Jonathan Adler and think he’s brilliant, but we kind of think this vase has a similar look to his $150.00 Belly Vase (below). You could buy 10 pairs of the bud vases and 5 of the full-size vases for the same price. Something to think about… We are in a recession, after all. Happy Saturday!

Things We Love: Bamboo Chandeliers

Massucco Warner Miller Interior

In doing a little research for the perfect chandelier for my kitchen, we came across more than a few fabulous options. But the hands-down winner for style: bamboo, bamboo, bamboo. So, yes, maybe it’s a theme with us here lately, but nothing makes a ceiling pop more than an uber-chic bamboo chandelier. And, somehow, whether you have a formal space or a more casual one, these lovely lights seem to make the right statement. Versatility is the best, especially if you might be moving soon. Trust me on this one…

The Bamboo Chandelier from Gump’s is a great find and comes in a fun green. The Meurice 30 Light Chandelier is another favorite that proves, yet again, something we all know by now: that Jonathan Adler knows what he’s doing! If you’re looking for something a little more budget friendly, the Tropically Modern Bamboo Chandelier is cute as a button.

We hope you enjoy these gorgeous photos as much as we did!

Things We Love: Bamboo Chairs

This room was designed by Keithley Miller and featured in Florida Design Magazine.

If there’s one thing we love, it’s bamboo. Mom bought a fabulous set of white lacquered bamboo chairs for her breakfast room last weekend — I’ll admit that I might have been a bit of an influence in that decision — and they totally transformed the room! We think bamboo chairs play a huge role in transforming each of these rooms, as well. Whether it’s used for dining or occasional, bamboo is definitely back in a big way — and it isn’t just for Palm Beach anymore. We hope you enjoy these beautiful photos as much as we did!

Tabletop Tuesday: Rooms to Inspire in the City

New York, LA, Paris, London, Jakarta… Okay, so we live in North Carolina, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t appreciate — and adopt — elements of big-city style. Annie Kelly and photographer Tim Street-Porter have compiled some of the most beautiful and tasteful projects from big name designers such as Muriel Brandolini, Peter Dunham, Jonathan Adler, and Mary McDonald in their gorgeous book Rooms to Inspire in the City. Special tips on tight spaces, especially bathrooms and kitchens, make this book essential for those in the city, but universal design concepts make it a great find for anyone with fabulous taste. Thanks to Stylebeat for sharing the sample photos from this book:
