Happy Thursday, friends! We can’t believe it’s almost the weekend already.

We love the simple, chic look of this oversized subway tile,

And, complete with dark grout, this tile makes for a very stylish shower.

Or brilliant in brass, the right hardware is the perfect accent for these simple tiles with big personality.

This marble subway tile is positively swoon worthy! It’s a luxe take on a trend we love.

But who says subway tile should just be limited to the shower? Subway tile in this entire bathroom makes such a statement.

Forget going to the groomer. Subway tile is even the perfect material for a dog shower! Now this is a pampered pooch!

Great news, Kindle readers! Slightly South of Simple is now available on Kindle Unlimited. If you haven’t started my Peachtree Bluff Series, now is the perfect time 🍑 And, oh my goodness, thank you to all who have downloaded! Slightly South has

just hit #1 in Southern Fiction.

The Huffington Post said of Slightly South:
“Writers come and writers go, but Kristy Woodson Harvey is here to stay. The warmth, wit, and wisdom of this novel pave her way into the exclusive sisterhood of southern writers.” I’d love it if you checked it out!

Bathroom Organizing in the New Year

bathroom organizing
Jackson & Leroy

Happy New Year, sweet friends!  Bathrooms are perhaps the most utilitarian rooms in the house

Geizler Architects

But that doesn’t mean they can’t also be the most beautiful

After all, the room we spend a good portion of the moments right before waking and sleeping should be somewhere we feel relaxed, invigorated and totally calm.

We’ll admit that we can get pretty excited over any element in the bathroom.

Sinks that look as much like jewelry as somewhere to wash your hands are always welcome in one of our rooms.

And — it is the new year after all — if it is gorgeously, fantastically organized then we really can’t stop dreaming of it!

When space allows, decorative details that make the bath feel as accessorized and beautiful as the rest of the house are a must! This beautiful lamp and silver tray are inspiring us!

Speaking of… Of all the elements that combine to make a gorgeous bathroom, the bathtub is by far our favorite!

Tub or no tub, big bath or tiny, one, simple thing that we can all do to make our baths feel light, luscious and beautifully designed is keep a tiny (or big!) vase full of fresh stems right on the vanity.

What a wonderful way to start the day!
Wishing you a day full of beautiful things!

Things We Love: Beautiful Bathrooms

Beth Webb InteriorsEmily Followill Photography

Beautiful bathrooms are one of the great pleasures in life, if you ask us.

freestanding bathtub in bathroom
Beth Webb InteriorsEmily Followill Photography

And, for us, a great tub is a nonnegotiable.

Barbara Westbrook via Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles

When we redid our master bath in our Beaufort, NC house a huge, cast-iron soaking tub was the first thing we chose.

Suzanne Kasler Interior Design

The carpenters joked that if there was a natural disaster we should stand on the first floor under the tub because the floor had been reinforced so heavily.

Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles

Although it’s not so much of a joke now because, in the wake of Hurricane Florence, we learned what can happen when you build a beautiful wooden enclosure around a cast-iron tub surrounded by windows. And the windows leak. Let’s just say ew.

Lesson learned!

Architectural Digest

We weren’t planning on a major house renovation just five years after the first one, but you can’t predict the weather, as they say.

Architectural Digest

And master bathroom, take two, is going to have a more breathable bathing solution, so we don’t find ourselves in this mess again.

Luckily, freestanding tubs are another favorite of ours.

And, after all, the floor’s already reinforced.

Beautiful, simple, streamlined and able to take advantage of every window of view, now we just have to choose the right one!

What are your bathroom must-haves?

Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We always love seeing you here!
