Good morning, chic readers! I can’t believe it, but my sixth novel, Feels Like Falling, officially releases tomorrow! If you’re looking to add to your bookshelves–or your beach bag–I’d love it if you’d check it out!

Speaking of bookshelves, they are, hands down, one of our favorite parts of any design scheme.

But getting the perfect blend of books and accessories, deciding to go monochrome or to mix it up, can be tricky.

But a neutral palette also lends a clean, streamlined look and, as these shelves prove, can still be eye-catching.

To us, nothing is quite as fabulous as a library ladder–except for maybe these gorgeous library lights!

Amber InteriorsTessa Neustadt

And, of course, a cozy sitting area where one can curl up with a good book is practically mandatory!

Whatever look you love best in your bookcases, I would love it if you added Feels Like Falling to it! Here’s a little more info:

From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand) and the bestselling author of the Peachtree Bluff series comes an odd-couple tale of friendship that asks just how much our past choices define our happiness.

It’s summertime on the North Carolina coast and the livin’ is easy.

Unless, that is, you’ve just lost your mother to cancer, your sister to her extremist husband, and your husband to his executive assistant. Meet Gray Howard. Right when Gray could use a serious infusion of good karma in her life, she inadvertently gets a stranger, Diana Harrington, fired from her job at the local pharmacy.

Diana Harrington’s summer isn’t off to the greatest start either: Hours before losing her job, she broke up with her boyfriend and moved out of their shared house with only a worn-out Impala for a bed. Lucky for her, Gray has an empty guest house and a very guilty conscience.

With Gray’s kindness, Diana’s tide begins to turn. But when her first love returns, every secret from her past seems to resurface all at once. And, as Gray begins to blaze a new trail, she discovers, with Diana’s help, that what she envisioned as her perfect life may not be what she wants at all.

In her warmest, wisest novel yet, Kristy Woodson Harvey delivers a discerning portrait of modern womanhood through two vastly different lenses. Feels Like Falling is a beach bag essential for Harvey fans—and for a new generation of readers.

Thanks so much, wonderful readers, for being so incredibly supportive not only of Design Chic for these past nine (almost ten!) years but also for being such ardent supporters of my writing career. I am here, six books later, because of the incredibly generous blogger and influencer friends I’ve made along the way and because of my steadfast readers who continue to buy my books, review them on Amazon and Goodreads, put them in their book clubs and show up at my events. I am unspeakably grateful for each of you!

Good morning, chic readers! We are CELEBRATING today because, today, my fifth novel and the final book in my Peachtree Bluff Trilogy, The Southern Side of Paradise, releases! After more than a year of writing, editing, promoting and, yes, picking the cover, it is so exciting to see the book come to life out in the world. As you might imagine, I am a very visual person, so covers mean a lot to me. I am so fortunate that my cover designer at Simon & Schuster is a genius–and came up with more than a dozen too-gorgeous-to-be-believed covers for me to choose from. I had the hardest time deciding which one fit the story best! Ultimately, it came down to something pretty simple: the yellow. The cover I chose has a yellow hat and a yellow title, and, I don’t know about you, but I am loving yellow lately. That yellow is combined with the perfect hot pink…

I think they nailed it, don’t you? If these aren’t the colors of paradise, then I don’t know what are. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your support of my books, The Peachtree Bluff Series and, of course, Design Chic! Mom and I love being here with you every day, and we can’t thank you enough for spending a few minutes of your day with us for NINE YEARS!

If you are looking for a Mother’s Day gift or your next beach read, I’d love it if you’d check out The Southern Side of Paradise! It is available from your local bookstore and wherever books are sold, including:

A Portion of My Acknowledgments in The Secret to Southern Charm

One of the hardest parts of writing a book for me is writing my acknowledgments–because I have so, so many people to thank that I always end up having to cut them down–more than once! The funny thing is that most of the time, the people I thank never even see the acknowledgments because they don’t make it into the advance copies. (Because I procrastinate soooo long on turning them in.) So I wanted you to see a small portion of my acknowledgements in my latest novel The Secret to Southern Charm today! Thank you sweet friends for all of your help and support!

My design blogger girls, there are too many of you to name here, but, literally, you launched my career. Hands down. Thank you for your enthusiasm, your support, and for sharing your readers and your corners of the Internet with me year after year. I love you all so much and am in awe of your generosity!

It is beginning to sink in that this is my fourth novel, that only four years ago I was hoping and praying that I would get to see just one book in print. I have to thank you, the reader who holds this book, for helping to make my dreams come true, for telling your friends and writing reviews, for hosting and coming to my events . . . I am here today because of you, and, even though we may not have ever met, I count you as one of the people I am most grateful for every day.

House Tour: Caroline’s Chic Hamptons Beach House

Good morning, chic readers! We hope you are having a great day. The Southern Side of Paradise (tour dates below!) is in full swing and we hope to see you while we’re traveling!

In my last novel, The Secret to Southern Charm, Peachtree Bluff’s least Southern sister, Caroline, has a gorgeous Hamptons home that is the site of one of the most memorable chapters of the book. And, this year, I’ll be touring in the Hamptons as well! Today, we are imagining what Caroline’s Hamptons Beach House might look like. Take a peek for yourself!

From The Secret to Southern Charm:

CAROLINE’S HOUSE IN EAST Hampton suited her perfectly.

It wasn’t big, and it wasn’t on the water, but every inch of it was elegant and just modern enough.

The entire palette was water blues and creams with touches of gold, seagrass, and plenty of natural beauty from resin coral and oyster shells.

I had never been to it, of course. And walking through the front door, I instantly felt calm.

I assumed that’s what Mom had been going for when she designed it.

We can picture all the members of the Murphy clan gathering in a spot just like this at Caroline’s gorgeous home, decorated for her by Ansley, her interior designer mother…

And receiving some of the biggest news of their lives.

In The Southern Side of Paradise, that news would most certainly surround youngest sister Emerson who has her fair share of conflict in this novel.

We imagine this home to be perfectly styled but unfussy. This chicken wire sink is just that!

What’s the beach without blues? A rattan nightstand and vintage bathing suit print are perfect for a casual Hamptons house.

We love any beach cottage with shingles. Could this possibly be any more charming? Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day!
