Oh. Wait. No, no, no, not thosegreens. (Although, we drink Amazing Grass Kids Chocolate Superfood and it is as amazing as its title suggests. Yeah, we could try the adult kind, but you know it won’t be as good…)
Anyway, there is nothing quite as wonderful as having fresh things in your home: flowers, cake, greenery, fudge, air.
But if you’re like us and lacking in the green thumb department, there is nothing we love quite as much as few fresh leaves.
They’re super chic, on trend, live a long, long time, and lend any space that decidedly India Hicks vibe. We don’t know about you, but that’s a vibe we want.
Speaking of, Mom has a big birthday coming up next year. Don’t ask which one. A lady never tells.
And we rented one of India Hicks’ fab houses in Eleuthera for her birthday trip. Don’t tell her. It’s a surprise! Just kidding… She does read her own blog, so that would be hard to hide. We’ll share pics!
There are sure to be plenty of palm leaves like these. If there aren’t, we’ll cut some.
We know these are on trend, but really anything works.
Cut a few favorites from your own yard and you’ll be well on your way to getting more greens—no spinach required!
Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We always love seeing you here!

Thanks so much for stopping by Design Chic today. We always love seeing you here!
With the days growing longer and the sun getting warmer, we are savoring every moment we have outside–especially after such a cold, harsh winter. We don’t know about you, but we’re focusing on keeping our yards blooming for summer right now. We love flowers and bright blooms and pretty colors intermixed, and when it comes to curb appeal, there is nothing quite like adding color to the garden. Check out a few of our favorite colorful gardens and gain a bit of inspiration of your own!
Good morning, friends! Did you have a good weekend? What were you up to? We hope, whatever it was, it was fun! The Beaufort house is going to see lots of action this week with two parties and overnight guests, so we’ve been working on getting everything neat and organized, which is trickier during the summer when we’re actually home more!
The kitchen is always the toughest place to keep neat and organized, for us anyway. (I am counting down the days until construction begins on our addition which will include a new mudroom/storage area! Yay!) In the meantime, we’re trying to make some small changes that will have a big impact.
This paper towel holder, for one, is so fabulous! Such a great idea. We don’t like having them on the counter, and they can’t go under the cabinets because we have lights. Keeping them under the sink is okay, but it would be even better to have them right on hand like these!
We love all kinds of cabinet styles. This wire is wonderful!
We love a pretty fruit bowl on the counter. Besides being beautiful, we think it helps us eat more fruit throughout the day–and saves room in the fridge.
A gorgeous blue backsplash is one that shouldn’t be covered up. No need for accessories here.
When everything is neat and clean, the flowers are the perfect finishing touch.
Feet of fresh, white marble are the ultimate reward for keeping a clean and neat kitchen–
you get to enjoy your beautiful countertops.
Having spices right at hand is crucial for cooking. A simple drawer insert makes it so you can see them all at the same time. Ours are alphabetized in the cabinet, which isn’t quite as convenient but still neat.
We’re all about an accessory, but in the kitchen, we tend to think, the simpler, the better. This coral bowl adds a burst of color. The watermelon is a good–and delicious–summer touch as well.
This sleek, thin fridge and freezer feel incredibly chic and organized.
Huge drawers are our favorite, favorite part of a kitchen organization plan. They are perfect for pots and pans.
The only thing better than organized cutlery is organized cutlery that’s bright and fun! These ooze summer!
This is genius! We can’t stand having iPads and phones and computers cluttering the countertops. This charging station gets rid of all the mess and stores it away beautifully.
These mixer shelves are some of our favorite parts of the kitchen–although a beautiful stand mixer is one of the few accessories we don’t mind having on the counter.
If you could add an organizational element to your kitchen, what would you choose? Have a great day!

It would really be more appropriate to title this post “Things and People We Love.” Because as much as we love the beautiful shop, Diane James Home, and The Buzz Blog that is connected to it, we love it’s owners and authors, twins Carolyn and Cynthia, even more!
They were some of our very first blog friends when we started Design Chic, have been an endless source of support and inspiration, and even brought gorgeous blue hydrangeas for everyone at the beyond beautiful blogger luncheon our fabulous friend Tina from The Enchanted Home hosted for the launch of my novel Slightly South of Simple last year. (If you’ve read it, you’ll get why those flowers were so important!)
You know we love flowers. Love and adore them and can’t get enough of them. And we know that you do too.
But, sometimes it has been freezing cold for what seems like forever (like now!), or you’re allergic to flowers or you hate the mess the make or you can’t keep them alive for longer than a half hour…
But that’s where sweet Cynthia and Carolyn and their beautiful line for Diane James Home come in.
Because they have an endless variety of gorgeous blooms that won’t die, won’t need watering… And here’s the clincher: They look exactly like the real thing.
It’s quite astonishing, actually.
Their new Spring Watercolors Collection might be their most beautiful yet. And we don’t know about you, but, if we are going to make it until spring actually arrives, we are going to need some beautiful blooms in our lives!
Not only are they stunning for your own home–indoors or out–but Diane James Home florals make the perfect gift. We’re loving them for the upcoming wedding season. Because, honestly, the bride is probably getting tired of dinner plates.
From topiaries to bouquets, greenery to orchids that you don’t have to get that ice cube trick right to keep alive, these ladies have it all. (And, yes, you can have it delivered! We know. Life is good!)
And, did we mention? They’re gorgeous twins! We don’t know about you, but these beautiful blooms have made us feel oh so inspired. What about you?
Thanks so much for stopping by today, chic readers!
