Nantucket is home to so many awesome things and people. One of our favorite authors, Elin Hilderbrand. One of our favorite hotels, The Wauwinet. And one of our favorite designers, Kathleen Hay. Jane Beiles doesn’t live in Nantucket, but she photographs there, so we’ll give her a favorite Nantucket photographer shout out anyway!
We can’t get enough of that classic New England vibe that seems to be everything exactly when you need it.
You know, warm and cozy and soothing during the cold winter months, like now.
But full of that quintessential island style that makes it also feel like summer vacation. You know, dream summer vacation.
But what we think we love most about this Nantucket beauty is the unexpected touches.
The right artistic touches,
Plus everything you need to get into vacation mode create the perfect retreat for year-long living, summer relaxation and everything in between.
From an evening gown to a perfect floral arrangement, an entrance is sort of like a first impression: You only get one chance to make it. A round table is one of our favorite ways to make a statement in the foyer.
Paired with the perfect flowers — and, of course, the right statement lighting — it’s a piece that is as versatile as it is lovely.
In a pinch, we love the idea of pulling chairs up to an entrance hall table for extra seating at a dinner party.
Beyond that crucial table, so many other elements can absolutely make an entrance. The right rug…Woodwork for miles…
And, of course, a show-stopping chandelier.
And if you have a spectacular view? Don’t forget to flaunt it!
Something a little bit unexpected can certainly make an entrance pop — whether it’s cozy furniture or a bold paint choice.
And a fun pattern on the floor adds instant interest, as does a fabulous arch!
Cool art is instantly eye-catching and we love a seagrass rug for creating a less dressy feel.
Symmetry isn’t required for making an entrance, but a special pair can take a foyer up a notch.
And, sometimes, the loudest statements are the simplest of all.
Tables and lighting, accessories and flooring are all great ways to make an entrance. But nothing says, “welcome” quite like filling your home with things (and people) you love! And if you have puppies, so much the better!
Thanks for stopping by today. We hope it’s a wonderful one!
