In Good Taste: Livable Style with Park & Oak Design

Park & Oak Design entrance

Even their name conjures good feelings. Park and Oak Design. It sounds like a firm that brings the outdoors in. That creates simple yet beautiful design schemes that feel totally livable.

Park & Oak Design living room

It’s kind of like judging a book by its cover. You’re really not supposed to but, sometimes, the cover does give you a really accurate glimpse into what the book is about.

Park & Oak Design entrance

In this case, we judged a firm by its name. And like that book cover, it did give us a pretty accurate glimpse into what was to come.

Park & Oak Design living room

If we had to pick one word to describe Oak and Park Design, we think we’d choose… airy. (It’s hard to choose one word, especially when you’re used to getting 85,000 to describe things.)

Park & Oak Design living room

There’s a minimalistic air about this firm’s work that we find incredibly appealing and totally refreshing.

Park & Oak Design kitchen

A modern streak runs through all of these designs that pairs well with traditional touches.

And you know how we love our subway tile!

Park & Oak Design kitchen

We love how simple this kitchen is. You can never go wrong with black, white and a touch of natural fiber.

Park & Oak Design kitchen

It took us a while to warm up to the idea, but we are now big fans of mixing metals. This kitchen is case and point!

These pendants are perfection.

Park & Oak Design dining room

Speaking of pendants, this is one of our favorites. It’s even more stunning in real life!

Park & Oak Design dining room

Saarinen tables are always a favorite. Sleek, modern and totally functional, they’re a great pick for a breakfast room, especially one that isn’t huge.

Park & Oak Design bathroom

The right combination of high and low, rustic and modern, this gorgeous bathroom is the perfect mix of favorite elements blended together in just the right way.

Park & Oak Design bathroom

A great wallpaper can totally make a bathroom. We love the vintage feel of this marble sink. The simplicity of these fixtures is a perfect complement to the fun wallpaper. All in all, we think you’ll agree that the work of Park and Oak is in good taste. Which is your favorite room?

We hope you’re having a great day and staying warm!

Here’s What’s Next from the Murphy Women:

From internationally bestselling author and “rising star of Southern fiction” (Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling author) Kristy Woodson Harvey comes the third novel in her Peachtree Bluff series, in which a secret threatens the tight-knit bond between a trio of sisters and their mother.

With the man of her dreams back in her life and all three of her daughters happy, Ansley Murphy should be content. But she can’t help but feel like it’s all a little too good to be true.

Meanwhile, youngest daughter and actress Emerson, who is recently engaged and has just landed the role of a lifetime, seemingly has the world by the tail. Only, something she can’t quite put her finger on is worrying her—and it has nothing to do with her recent health scare.

When two new women arrive in Peachtree Bluff—one who has the potential to wreck Ansley’s happiness and one who could tear Emerson’s world apart—everything is put in perspective. And after secrets that were never meant to be told come to light, the powerful bond between the Murphy sisters and their mother comes crumbling down, testing their devotion to each other and forcing them to evaluate the meaning of family.

With Kristy Woodson Harvey’s signature charm, wit, and heart, The Southern Side of Paradise is another masterful Peachtree Bluff novel that proves she is a “Southern writer with staying power” (Booklist).

House Tour: Cloth and Kind

Good morning, chic readers! Are you in full-on Thanksgiving hysteria yet? We are getting so excited, and, okay, truth time: We pulled out the Christmas playlist on Amazon Music today. (If you haven’t listened to the Train Christmas album, you totally should!) So, yeah, it will be 71 degrees tomorrow, and the turkey hasn’t even been bought yet much less cooked, but what’s the harm in breaking our no-Christmas-music-until-after-Thanksgiving rule? It’s not like we’ve already bought the tree

While you’re putting the finishing touches on your Thanksgiving grocery list, check out this fabulous house tour from the beyond amazing Cloth and Kind. It’s the perfect home, holiday or not!

Built-in bookcases are one of our favorite features in any home. The addition of the brass library lamps takes the look over the top!

A blue island is the perfect pop in an otherwise white kitchen. It adds so much dimension.

A teeny vignette becomes a focal point with the addition of this beautiful rug and distressed piece of furniture.

There’s nothing better than starting and finishing the day in the sunniest spot in the house!

We love hot pink in any space…

And beautiful blues too, of course.

There’s no space we love more than a window seat, especially when the weather gets cooler and we draw closer to home.

Double sinks provide plenty of space for getting ready…

And a soaking tub creates a spa-like retreat.

Just add a Turkish towel!

A playful child’s room is such a delight,

And a darling basin sink creates plenty of space for multiple kids to get ready for school.

Isn’t it amazing? We love Cloth and Kind’s use of color, pattern and texture–even on the porch.

House Tour: Cottage on Lake Keowee

Lake Keowee entrance

There’s no doubt about it: Fall is in the air. It’s still 85 degrees here on the Carolina coast, but there’s something about the air here that starts to get a little clearer that makes us know it will be here soon. The pumpkins everywhere don’t hurt either!

Lake Keowee entrance

So, sure, houses are made for all seasons, but this fabulous Lake Keowee Cottage, designed by Architect Timothy S. Adams and Westbrook Interiors in this month’s Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles,  just feels like fall to us.

Lake Keowee living room

This is the kind of fireplace that is made for crackling logs on crisp fall nights and freezing December days.

Lake Keowee living room

And the room around it begs to be curled up in!

Lake Keowee dining room

With Halloween parties and Thanksgiving dinner and all the wonderful occasions that Fall brings, this dining room is the perfect blend of comfortable sophistication that feels festive but never fussy.

Lake Keowee kitchen

And a place to prepare all those wonderful holiday meals?

Lake Keowee kitchen

No problem!

And, of course, a celebration is in order!

Lake Keowee lake

Fall is our favorite time to be outdoors (Okay, okay… We’re sure we say that about summer and spring too…) and this spectacular setting is ideal for a hike or a paddle or a row.

Lake Keowee house and garden

And there’s something about stone and wood that makes us think of the change of seasons, of cooler temperatures and turning leaves.

Lake Keowee house and garden

There’s nothing not to love about this Lake Keowee Cottage any season of the year!

Have you begun preparing your home for Fall?

Thanks so much for stopping by Design Chic today. We always love seeing you here!
