When it comes to beauty products, Mom and I are probably the two most low-maintenance people in the world. But we come by it honestly! My grandmother has washed her face with the same Pond’s Cold Cream and used the same Oil of Olay moisturizer for her entire life! We both have super sensitive skin, so when we find something that works, we stick with it! Mom swears by her Cetaphil Cleanser and Cetaphil Moisturizer and is a devotee of Estee Lauder Foundation and Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara.

I’m also a big fan of keeping it simple. I love Acure Seriously Glowing Serum and Burt’s Bees Renewal Day Lotion. I’ve switched between so many different make-up brands over the years, but I always come back to my old faithful Bare Minerals Original Foundation and Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara topped off with Mineral Fusion Illuminating Powder, which I grab at Whole Foods.

During the summer, we load up on Kiss My Face Spray Sunscreen, which is light, non-sticky and protects very well!

There is so much to love about the South. The moss covered Live Oaks…

Mint juleps…

And, of course, without exception, the staple of southern living: sweet tea!

Maybe it’s all of those things, maybe it’s the magnolia blossoms, but there are so many reasons that I love living in the South and so many reasons that I love writing about the South.

And I can’t think of anything more exciting than having a brand new book, the second book in the Peachtree Bluff Series, the sequel to Slightly South of Simple, releasing April 3, 2018, called The Secret to Southern Charm!

Maybe it’s the love, family and tradition… It was hard for me to say what the secret to southern charm was, but Grammy, the matriarch of the Murphy clan, knew right away.

Speaking of grandmothers, my two have had a huge impact on my life. (If you want to know more, check out this article I wrote about my grandmother’s pearls for Parade.) And I think it is these family relationships, the respect and love among multiple generations of women, that are a huge part of what makes writing about the South so much fun.

Good morning, lovely readers! Can you believe how incredibly close we are getting to Christmas? Is it beginning to look like it at your house? This is our holiday table, all set and ready, with Christmas ornaments at every place. (If you peek into the bookcase, you’ll see our favorite Christmas decoration: A felt nativity from Wisteria that is too sweet for words!)

Do you set your table the same way every year? Is it a bit of a tradition?Or do you come up with something new and different every year?Do you go all out with the Christmas accessories and decor?

We would love to know!

Thanks so much for making us a part of your day!
