Good morning, chic readers! If you’ve been around this week, so many thank yous for helping me celebrate the release of my seventh novel, Under the Southern Sky!

If you haven’t been here, you’re definitely going to want to check out yesterday’s house tour, which inspired the family home in this story, Dogwood.  Both of these beautiful homes are designed by the uber talented James F. Farmer

Under the Southern Sky begins when Amelia, an investigative journalist, discovers that a cluster of frozen embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned”–and she’s put in the unenviable position of having to tell him.

Parker and Amelia grew up as neighbors in the charming, seaside town of Cape Carolina, their houses next door to each other on the end of a gorgeous peninsula.

Amelia’s mother Elizabeth, one of the protagonists, and Parker’s mother Olivia always dreamed when they were children that they would grow up, live next door to each other and have children that grew up to get married too.

They did end up living next door to each other.

But the rest of the dream hasn’t quite panned out, despite their intensive meddling.

The home Olivia and her family live in next door to Dogwood is beautiful and charming,

The perfect blend of Southern traditional style,

And modern updates.

When I’m creating homes on the page, I always love to draw inspiration from the pages of Design Chic.

And this gorgeous James Farmer home seemed to me the perfect place for Parker to have grown up.

Cozy enough for family living,

Polished enough for entertaining in style,

And full of treasures collected from all stages of life,

This is the kind of house that truly becomes home.

From a sweet bath,

To a charming bedroom,

Every space is dripping with Farmer’s fabulous, signature style.

We love his use of color, pattern and texture to pull a room together in the exact right way,

And I know my characters Olivia and Parker would agree! Thanks to all of you who have already read or ordered Under the Southern Sky–and huge thanks to those who have visited me on tour, in real life or virtually! Your friendly faces are the absolute best part of being on the road.

Two childhood friends discover that love—and family—can be found in unconventional ways in this timely, moving novel from the USA TODAY bestselling author of the “beautifully Southern, evocative Peachtree Bluff series” (Kristin Harmel, NYT bestselling author of The Book of Lost Names).

Recently separated Amelia Buxton, a dedicated journalist, never expected that uncovering the biggest story of her career would become deeply personal. But when she discovers that a cluster of embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned,” she’s put in the unenviable position of telling Parker—and dredging up old wounds in the process.

Parker has been unable to move forward since the loss of his beloved wife three years ago. He has all but forgotten about the frozen embryos, but once Amelia reveals her discovery, he knows that if he ever wants to get a part of Greer back, he’ll need to accept his fate as a single father and find a surrogate.

Each dealing with their own private griefs, Parker and Amelia slowly begin to find solace in one another as they navigate an uncertain future against the backdrop of the pristine waters of their childhood home, Cape Carolina. The journey of self-discovery leads them to an unforgettable and life-changing lesson: Family—the one you’re born into and the one you choose—is always closer than you think.

From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand, #1 New York Times bestselling author), Under the Southern Sky is a fresh and unforgettable exploration of love, friendship, and the unbreakable ties that bind.
