We don’t know about you, but summertime is calling our names in a big, big way right now. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and we are finding every excuse we can to be outside. Fortunately, here on the North Carolina Coast, we don’t need too many excuses! If you’re a long-time Design Chic follower, you might know that we have been adding onto our 1903 Beaufort home for a little over a year now, trying to create the perfect blend of old and new.
As a writer, my library/office was, truth be told, the most important spot to me. And the balcony off of this light-filled space was no exception.
I wanted chairs on the balcony that weren’t just comfortable for cocktails or friends coming by to visit. I wanted the kind of chairs where I could grab my laptop, cross my legs and feel cozy and ready to work.
This is a side porch, but, even still, any house on the water is going to get a fair amount of sun and salt, wind and rain, so I also needed pieces that were going to stand the test of time on this covered porch.

The minute these beautiful chairs came in, I was blown away with the quality. They’re heavy, sturdy and, as you can see… so, so cute! (Trying to decide if I got the dog to match the chairs or the chairs to match the dog… Hmmm…)
The powder-coated aluminum is made for standing up to salty conditions and the natural fiber weave couldn’t be more stylish for an outdoor porch!
Everyone in our family wants to hang out on my balcony now, which makes it every-so-slightly difficult to get my work done!
And, well, sometimes I do work out there, but, let’s be honest: I’d rather be reading! Next up on our wish list? A few of these Teak Sling Chairs for the beach and a couple Oceanpark Loungers for a side porch. (Because yellow-and-white stripe always makes us happy!)
