House Tour: Jute Interiors

Jute Interiors curb appeal

It happens every, single year, without fail. Fall comes, the temperature drops, and we start feeling like we need a farm. Preferably with a bonfire.

Jute Interiors entry with pendant lights

Nothing permanent. Just a small getaway, perfectly appointed.

jute Interiors entry with wood bench and steel doors

This home from Jute Interiors is basically out of our imagination, that fall, farm, weekend getaway come to life.

Jute Interiors bench

This is the kind of place where not a single detail is overlooked, from the walls to the furniture to everything in between.

Jute Interiors dining room with beams

It is also the kind of place where things are simple. And an open floor plan means that living leads to…

Dining, preferably for friends and family,

At the ideal rustic table where the outside comes in, the simple becomes impossibly chic and the kind of place is set where we would want to be guests.

Speaking of places we want to become guests… A lovely pool with equally gorgeous loungers and that farm we’re craving!

A stunning pavilion with plenty of eating and entertaining space.

And that bonfire that we absolutely must have when it comes to fall! Do you love this Jute Interiors home as much as we do?

House Tour: Storybook Farmhouse

house-and-garden storybook charming

Some homes simply require that you stop and take notice. This Buck County house and garden, complete with its stone facade and charming gate, is one of those enviable spots. And its storybook exterior is only the beginning.

glass - storybook charming

This gorgeous light-filled living room beckons anyone who enters to stay awhile. A glass-top table combines perfectly with beautiful upholstery for a cozy feeling.

living room

And nothing could make for a cozier living room than a crackling fire and a little corner chair.

lights -Storybook Farmhouse

We love a sofa table for creating the feeling of distinction between rooms in an open floor plan. A pair of lamps lights the space perfectly.

wood -Storybook Farmhouse

We’ve always been throw rug people, but more and more, bare wood floors seems to appeal to us. They contrast beautifully with light furnishings and make everything feel fresh and clean.

artist -Storybook Farmhouse

Displaying the work of a fabulous artist is one of the chief jobs of a great piece of furniture. And it’s all the better when the chest could be art as well!

kitchen -Storybook Farmhouse

The wood cabinets in this kitchen contribute to that country farmhouse feel.

bedroom -Storybook Farmhouse

A canopy is one of our favorite ways to add luxury and glamour to a bedroom.

paint -Storybook Farmhouse

That pale blue is the perfect, soothing paint color and those wide-plank floors are perfection!

bedroom -Storybook Farmhouse

A chaise in a bedroom would be our favorite spot for lounging.

porches -Storybook Farmhouse

There’s nowhere in the house that we love more than porches and patios. Entertaining would be a snap on this amazing slate patio.

garden -Storybook Farmhouse

A charming, well-manicured garden is great for whiling away an afternoon and some good, hard thinking time.

garden -Storybook Farmhouse

The view of the garden from this sunny spot is just perfect! So relaxing! We hope your Wednesday is the same!

In Other News…

The Southern Side of Paradise

I also wanted to share with you that my new novel, THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF PARADISE, is available for pre-order now from your local bookstore, IndieboundAmazon and Barnes & Noble (Only in hardback and paperback so far. E-books to come!)–and, this week, it’s for a great cause!

Let’s Help Hurricane Florence Victims Together!

From Saturday, October 12-October 19 I will be donating 100% of the profits from the pre-order of THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF PARADISE to United Way of Coastal Carolina and Lenoir/Greene County, specifically for Hurricane Florence relief. Many of you know that Eastern NC was hard hit by Hurricane Florence–and Hurricane Michael on its tail was another major setback. While we are beginning to repair there will be months and months of clean up and rebuilding to come. Thousands lost their homes and shelters are still filled weeks after the storm. There is so much to be done!

And Be Automatically Entered in the Peachtree Bluff Takeover Giveaway!

AND, next June (exact date TBA) Peachtree Bluff will be “taking over” Beaufort, NC, the town on which it was based. Every single person who preorders between now now and will be registered to win:

*Two tickets to the Peachtree Bluff Town Takeover and Tour–on Beaufort’s signature double decker red buses!

*Two tickets to the farm-to-table dinner and launch party under the stars at the Beaufort Historic Site

*Two nights lodging in Beaufort, NC

Just send an email with proof of purchase to [email protected] to enter!

Here’s What’s Next from the Murphy Women:

From internationally bestselling author and “rising star of Southern fiction” (Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling author) Kristy Woodson Harvey comes the third novel in her Peachtree Bluff series, in which a secret threatens the tight-knit bond between a trio of sisters and their mother.

With the man of her dreams back in her life and all three of her daughters happy, Ansley Murphy should be content. But she can’t help but feel like it’s all a little too good to be true.

Meanwhile, youngest daughter and actress Emerson, who is recently engaged and has just landed the role of a lifetime, seemingly has the world by the tail. Only, something she can’t quite put her finger on is worrying her—and it has nothing to do with her recent health scare.

When two new women arrive in Peachtree Bluff—one who has the potential to wreck Ansley’s happiness and one who could tear Emerson’s world apart—everything is put in perspective. And after secrets that were never meant to be told come to light, the powerful bond between the Murphy sisters and their mother comes crumbling down, testing their devotion to each other and forcing them to evaluate the meaning of family.

With Kristy Woodson Harvey’s signature charm, wit, and heart, The Southern Side of Paradise is another masterful Peachtree Bluff novel that proves she is a “Southern writer with staying power” (Booklist).

In Good Taste: Hendricks Churchill House & Interiors

Hendricks Churchill office

We don’t know about you, but we love homes with history, with a sense of time and place and a style all their own.

Hendricks Churchill entrance

Maybe that’s what first drew us to Hendricks Churchill House & Interiors.

kitchen Hendricks Churchill

These designers’ eye toward preserving the best of the old while incorporating the new is nothing short of fabulous.

Hendricks Churchill kitchen

Beautiful wide-plank hardwoods make a statement in this kitchen and a stove with an antique feel adds to the charm.

kitchen

Lower ceilings make this kitchen feel cozy, while pendant lights add a pop of color.

Hendricks Churchill entrance

Talk about unique art! An old anchor and a coil of rope make for fabulous decor!

Hendricks Churchill hallway

Some architectural details simply make a house. These floors and those unique transoms and windows are the perfect backdrop for a showstopping design.

Hendricks Churchill bathroom

We love the sense of history that Hendricks Churchill brings to its spaces–even in the bathroom. Antique light fixtures and an antique rug juxtapose with new fixtures for a custom look.

sunroom

And a sunny porch in a classic color is perfect for the long, lazy summer days ahead.

Hendricks Churchill laundry room

A flower sink is one of our dream home items. Everyone needs a place to cut fresh flowers!

White trim is fine, but this fun aqua adds so much personality!

Hendricks Churchill bedroom

While a more classic color adds old world charm. Do you like a bit of traditional style in your decor? Or are you more modern?

Thank you so much for making Design Chic a part of your day! We always love seeing you here!

American Farmhouse Style

house tour donald lococo arch American farmhouse

American. Farmhouse. When we hear those two words, we know what’s to come is going to be good. Great, actually.

wood American Farmhouse

We can just picture reclaimed (or original!) wood floors and a smattering of antiques.

office-American Farmhouse

Fabulously rustic wood beams and a smattering of sunlight — perfect for getting plenty of work done in a perfectly farmhouse office.

house tour donald lococo American Farmhouse

A farmhouse is the kind of place where families can come together, where it’s okay to have a little bit of dirt on your feet.

kitchen-American Farmhouse

The kitchen is beautifully updated for fresh-from-the-garden meals any night of the week.

paint-American Farmhouse

But it still maintains so many of the characteristics that give a farmhouse its undeniable charm in the first place — like a warm and welcoming paint color, for instance.

glass-American Farmhouse

And family dinner around the dining room table isn’t just something that sounds good on paper. It’s a nightly ritual.

wood-American Farmhouse

A proper garden is a must at the American farmhouse. Watering cans and clippers and garden clogs… and a new sink ensconced in something antique is a really great way to enter off of the garden if you can get it. (And a dog bowl because, of course, the farmhouse has dogs!)

dining-American Farmhouse

A bit of rustic beauty combined with upscale elegance works nicely for entertaining friends.

bathroom

And, well, there are some places that you just don’t really need to be rustic…

house tour donald lococo-American Farmhouse

Like in this beautiful bathroom, for instance.

flowers-American Farmhouse

Flowers must greet you at the door; that’s a given. But they can’t be too terribly fussy. Wild is always better on the farm.

stone-American Farmhouse

And a bit of stone on the facade is simply stunning.

farmhouse-American Farmhouse

A fence for cattle or pigs… or looks… is always a great touch.

farm

And extra credit is given for a real-life, old-timey barn.

artist-American Farmhouse

Yes, we’d say this American farmhouse hits all the high notes of what we expect from a truly fabulous American farmhouse that is as livable and updated as it is rustic and character-filled. We think we could move right in! What about you? Can you see yourself living on this gorgeous farm?
