Some homes simply require that you stop and take notice. This Buck County house and garden, complete with its stone facade and charming gate, is one of those enviable spots. And its storybook exterior is only the beginning.
This gorgeous light-filled living room beckons anyone who enters to stay awhile. A glass-top table combines perfectly with beautiful upholstery for a cozy feeling.
And nothing could make for a cozier living room than a crackling fire and a little corner chair.
We love a sofa table for creating the feeling of distinction between rooms in an open floor plan. A pair of lamps lights the space perfectly.
We’ve always been throw rug people, but more and more, bare wood floors seems to appeal to us. They contrast beautifully with light furnishings and make everything feel fresh and clean.
Displaying the work of a fabulous artist is one of the chief jobs of a great piece of furniture. And it’s all the better when the chest could be art as well!
The wood cabinets in this kitchen contribute to that country farmhouse feel.
A canopy is one of our favorite ways to add luxury and glamour to a bedroom.
That pale blue is the perfect, soothing paint color and those wide-plank floors are perfection!
A chaise in a bedroom would be our favorite spot for lounging.
There’s nowhere in the house that we love more than porches and patios. Entertaining would be a snap on this amazing slate patio.
A charming, well-manicured garden is great for whiling away an afternoon and some good, hard thinking time.
The view of the garden from this sunny spot is just perfect! So relaxing! We hope your Wednesday is the same!
I also wanted to share with you that my new novel, THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF PARADISE, is available for pre-order now from your local bookstore, Indiebound, Amazon and Barnes & Noble (Only in hardback and paperback so far. E-books to come!)–and, this week, it’s for a great cause!
Let’s Help Hurricane Florence Victims Together!
From Saturday, October 12-October 19 I will be donating 100% of the profits from the pre-order of THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF PARADISE to United Way of Coastal Carolina and Lenoir/Greene County, specifically for Hurricane Florence relief. Many of you know that Eastern NC was hard hit by Hurricane Florence–and Hurricane Michael on its tail was another major setback. While we are beginning to repair there will be months and months of clean up and rebuilding to come. Thousands lost their homes and shelters are still filled weeks after the storm. There is so much to be done!
And Be Automatically Entered in the Peachtree Bluff Takeover Giveaway!
AND, next June (exact date TBA) Peachtree Bluff will be “taking over” Beaufort, NC, the town on which it was based. Every single person who preorders between now now and will be registered to win:
*Two tickets to the Peachtree Bluff Town Takeover and Tour–on Beaufort’s signature double decker red buses!
*Two tickets to the farm-to-table dinner and launch party under the stars at the Beaufort Historic Site
From internationally bestselling author and “rising star of Southern fiction” (Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling author) Kristy Woodson Harvey comes the third novel in her Peachtree Bluff series, in which a secret threatens the tight-knit bond between a trio of sisters and their mother.
With the man of her dreams back in her life and all three of her daughters happy, Ansley Murphy should be content. But she can’t help but feel like it’s all a little too good to be true.
Meanwhile, youngest daughter and actress Emerson, who is recently engaged and has just landed the role of a lifetime, seemingly has the world by the tail. Only, something she can’t quite put her finger on is worrying her—and it has nothing to do with her recent health scare.
When two new women arrive in Peachtree Bluff—one who has the potential to wreck Ansley’s happiness and one who could tear Emerson’s world apart—everything is put in perspective. And after secrets that were never meant to be told come to light, the powerful bond between the Murphy sisters and their mother comes crumbling down, testing their devotion to each other and forcing them to evaluate the meaning of family.
With Kristy Woodson Harvey’s signature charm, wit, and heart, The Southern Side of Paradise is another masterful Peachtree Bluff novel that proves she is a “Southern writer with staying power” (Booklist).

American. Farmhouse. When we hear those two words, we know what’s to come is going to be good. Great, actually.
We can just picture reclaimed (or original!) wood floors and a smattering of antiques.
Fabulously rustic wood beams and a smattering of sunlight — perfect for getting plenty of work done in a perfectly farmhouse office.
A farmhouse is the kind of place where families can come together, where it’s okay to have a little bit of dirt on your feet.
The kitchen is beautifully updated for fresh-from-the-garden meals any night of the week.
But it still maintains so many of the characteristics that give a farmhouse its undeniable charm in the first place — like a warm and welcoming paint color, for instance.
And family dinner around the dining room table isn’t just something that sounds good on paper. It’s a nightly ritual.
A proper garden is a must at the American farmhouse. Watering cans and clippers and garden clogs… and a new sink ensconced in something antique is a really great way to enter off of the garden if you can get it. (And a dog bowl because, of course, the farmhouse has dogs!)
A bit of rustic beauty combined with upscale elegance works nicely for entertaining friends.
And, well, there are some places that you just don’t really need to be rustic…
Like in this beautiful bathroom, for instance.
Flowers must greet you at the door; that’s a given. But they can’t be too terribly fussy. Wild is always better on the farm.
And a bit of stone on the facade is simply stunning.
A fence for cattle or pigs… or looks… is always a great touch.
And extra credit is given for a real-life, old-timey barn.
Yes, we’d say this American farmhouse hits all the high notes of what we expect from a truly fabulous American farmhouse that is as livable and updated as it is rustic and character-filled. We think we could move right in! What about you? Can you see yourself living on this gorgeous farm?
