My laundry room does not look like this. I think we should just go ahead and throw that out there. I’ll speak for Mom and say that hers does not look like this either. We both agree that a laundry room of this caliber should come with some sort of staff to work it.
But we can see why having two washers and two dryers would be very nice. I have double dish drawers and you can be much lazier about unloading things when there are two!
I don’t know why Mom even wanted to do this post because she doesn’t need a laundry room. She has a dry cleaners. She washes underwear. She could probably go like a month without doing laundry and be totally fine.
I didn’t realize what a luxury this was until I grew up, got married and realized that ironing has a pretty steep learning curve. There is a lot of skill involved!
But there are only three of us, thank goodness. So our laundry situation isn’t that serious. But that doesn’t keep me from wanting a serious laundry room!
We firmly believe that beautiful spaces make chores way more fun. Do you know what else my 22-year-old self thought was super fun? A Barolo Red washer and dryer.
I don’t even like red that much! I mean, I don’t mind red in some shades, but this is kind of a burgundy color. I’m not sure I saw it in person before making such a long-term decision. But it is the most fabulous-working washer and dryer, complete with a “kid clothes sanitize” setting, so I kind of hate to give it up. So I guess in whatever house we move into next, we’re going to have to decide to either embrace the red or replace a washer and dryer that work wonderfully. And, let’s face it, who wants to spend money on a new washer and dryer when they aren’t even broken?? Especially when you can be buying fun things like light fixtures!
Note to future self: You will like a white washer and dryer long after your idea that “Barolo red is cute” has passed.
Anyway, you know we love neutral rooms, but if you’re going to have to do laundry, why not do it somewhere fun? This wallpaper is like a party!
A sink in the laundry room is a must! Great for soaking stains and cutting flowers! Love it!
LOVE this wallpaper too! (My appliances are not this cute color red, just fyi.) We are now totally in the mood to spruce our laundry rooms. And maybe even do a little laundry in them!
On a fun side note, DEAR CAROLINA comes out two months from today! I can’t believe it. Thanks to all of you for being so supportive and uplifting during this process! I’ll be putting up my tour schedule very soon and hope to meet some of you in your cities. In the meantime if your book club is looking for a Spring read, I’d love to get them on my schedule for a chat! Skype (and air travel!) is a miracle.
Thanks so much for stopping by today, everyone! We hope you have a wonderful Thursday.
