One of our favorite, favorite places in my new book, Feels Like Falling, is Gray, one of the protagonist’s guest house. We imagined a charming blue-and-white, coastal–but never kitschy–space that hit all the high notes of style while still being comfortable.

And, well, let’s just say this stunning guest house by the one and only Mark D. Sikes was the most perfect inspiration!

One of the most important parts of this story is the guilt that Gray feels over causing Diana to lose her job–and offering for her to live in her guest house as a bit of restitution.

For Diana, who has recently broken up with one in a long line of bad boyfriends and is left with no place to go, the offer is a dream come true, an answered prayer.

She describes her new digs as “Pinterest-worthy,” and, as you can see, this stunning space fits the bill. (But don’t all of Mark D. Sikes’ homes?)

You never know how many friends you have until you have a beach house… And this is the kind of guest house we’d like to stay in all summer long!
