Shorter days, cooler nights…

It’s official: Fall is here.

We’re true lovers of warm weather (and, well, it’s still pretty warm here!) but when Thanksgiving rolls around there’s something nice about a little nip in the air and a crispness all around us.

And what better way to savor this glorious season than at home in a country house?

It’s the perfect place for gathering around the table with family and friends to celebrate the holidays. And, if your friends include a miniature horse, why not have him too?

We are big fans of rustic charm–

And the slower-paced lifestyle that country living requires.

All that cooking at home necessitates a fabulous kitchen, right?

If the food you’re cooking was grown right on your own farm, so much the better!

We’re in love with every special detail of this gorgeous retreat

And we think this powder room might be one of our very favorite spaces!

A cozy bedroom with lots of layers and a sense of history complements the decor so perfectly–and is the kind of place we could fall right to sleep.

We’d love to spend evenings curled up with a blanket and a cocktail right here

After a long day of riding…

And a morning of making breakfast with eggs collected right here! What about you? Would you be at home in the country?

Thanks so much for making Design Chic a part of your day. We always love seeing you here!

MORE ABOUT FEELS LIKE FALLING:
It’s summertime on the North Carolina coast and the livin’ is easy. Unless, that is, you’ve just lost your mother to cancer, your sister to her extremist husband, and your husband to his executive assistant. Meet Gray Howard. Right when Gray could use a serious infusion of good karma in her life, she inadvertently gets a stranger, Diana Harrington, fired from her job at the local pharmacy. Diana Harrington’s summer isn’t off to the greatest start either: Hours before losing her job, she broke up with her boyfriend and moved out of their shared house with only a worn-out Impala for a bed. Lucky for her, Gray has an empty guest house and a very guilty conscience. With Gray’s kindness, Diana’s tide begins to turn. But when her first love returns, every secret from her past seems to resurface all at once. And, as Gray begins to blaze a new trail, she discovers, with Diana’s help, that what she envisioned as her perfect life may not be what she wants at all. In her warmest, wisest novel yet, Kristy Woodson Harvey delivers a discerning portrait of modern womanhood through two vastly different lenses. Feels Like Falling is a beach bag essential for Harvey fans—and for a new generation of readers.
