Good morning, chic readers. We hope your week is off to a wonderful start. We don’t know about you, but we are dreaming of Memorial Day. All those white dresses and seersucker suits, not to mention sunshine and pool time.
Here, there’s a big band party and dinner to mark the occasion, not to mention cookouts and beach time, boating, a parade. We know it’s not the official start of summer, but it feels that way all the same.
This bright, airy room feels perfect for summer and is the epitome of Barbara Westbrook’s good taste. The perfectly worn rug and those welcoming Carolina blue shutters might be our favorite parts… Although it’s hard to choose, isn’t it?
Dining rooms often feel too open to us, a little bit empty and formal. This one is as warm and welcoming as the friends we can imagine around it!
Rustic beams, wood cabinets and dark floors make this kitchen feel cozy and intimate, the perfect place for a long chat over a good cup of coffee.
Wide plank floors have to be one of the best kitchen flooring options of all time. Whether a house is old or new they add that instant feeling of history and age–the graceful kind, of course.
This is the inspiration photo dream kitchens are made of! Plenty of room for food prep, storage, setting a fabulous table… This kitchen has it all!
For large kitchens, we adore this double island look. One for eating, one for food prep. It’s perfect!
Black and white is one of our favorite color combos, of course. Shades of gray only up the ante!
We’ve always loved a little glamour in the bathroom. Pretty metallics and an accent chandelier fit the bill perfectly.
This is exactly what we were talking about! The kind of scene Memorial Days were made for.

The size of those orchids in that first photo! But my favorite is the last one. I want to lie on one of those lounges with a book and a glass of white wine.
Such gorgeous, calm, neutral spaces with plenty of cozy details. I always think of Memorial Day as the kickoff of summer. It’s such a fun time and marks the beginning of lots of time with friends and family enjoying the sun and water!
